Motel 6 Birmingham, AL - Medical Center

"I've stayed at a number of M6. Relatively speaking it's not terrible. I think it was a Days Inn prior. $ has been put into it. Nice to have the big fridge freezer seen in photo. Room was clean and I thought the bed was very comfortable slept great. Can't beat the rate."

"Only one clean towel in the room- when we asked for more they said they didn’t have any and can’t give any out… Our shower also BARELY worked- barely trickled down, zero water pressure, basically unusable- also would NOT get hot/warm! Front desk guy just nodded and said “yes.” So I guess that’s normal."

"In regards to cheaper rooms, cleanliness & roaches are usually an issue. Not here! I was very impressed. The room was clean & not 1 roach. Easy check-in, & quiet. Whenever I need a room, this is where I'm headed."

"Rooms seemed cleaned well. But door was bent and wouldn’t shut all the way at the bottom it looked like it had been kicked in. They’re were also holes all over the ceiling above the shower. Also not much water pressure in the shower. Bathroom door also wouldn’t shut."

"I've stayed in my fair share of motel 6's over the past decade for three reasons. 1) dog friendliness 2) exterior entry and 3) value - because the Motel is almost always a quick stop over for me. I've always appreciated their price point and with that, never expect perfection or luxury. But, I'm docking points off this location because 1) it wasn't clean. 2) it had mold on the walls and was musty 3) they charged $20 per dog but do not disclose this on the booking app 4) charge a $100 deposit (which I've never seen before) and 5) up charged me $15 for a "studio 6" room which was supposed to nicer but it was not. The beds are pretty uncomfortable too. I don't know what to say, it's a discount motel. You get what you pay for, but I booked at a base rate around $60 and paid double that in the end. With these extra fees I'd opt for a better upgraded stay the next time I'm through Birmingham. The location is excellent for restaurants if you get in later."
