Midtown Dentistry

"The only reason I stuck around Midtown after Dr. Anschutz passed years ago was because it’s been hard to find a new dentist while I’ve been in school. I don’t even know the names of the dentists that took over because they’ve never introduced themselves, and even years and years later I still don’t know which is which. Several other dentists I’ve been to have said that they’ve done a terrible job on the crown they gave me. 2 years later my tooth got reinfected because of the bad crown and I had to get a new one because the original was not sealed all the way and was so thin it was on the verge of breaking in half. My last visit at midtown, I practically had to force the dentist to stay in the room and check a deteriorating filling that’s been sensitive. He didn’t even lean the chair back to look at my teeth. He stood by my chair, stuck 2 fingers in my mouth and wiggled them around like I was a show dog. Barely 2 minutes after my “exam” the dentist tried leaving and had to call him back. Sorry for the long rant, but goes to say after 20 years at Midtown, I won’t be going back."

"My visit was for cleaning and assessment. Everyone was respectful and professional. I have gone to Midtown for almost 10 years. Like others who have reviewed this office, I have experienced changes in staff and dentists. I had never taken the opportunity to review the care or staff before. I have been seeing Nissa for my teeth cleaning. She did a great job with my cleaning and provided me with suggestions to help with periodontal issues which are healing. The dentist cleaned my teeth during this visit and was very thorough. We discussed my continued treatment plan. Excellent visit!"

"The hygienist and front staff is amazing! There's a new hygienist there that I haven't seen before and she was very thorough. I can see why people may be annoyed by this but if you're paying for a health service, you want providers to be able to find everything. I've been coming here for a while and she's the only one that pointing things out that no one else has. She was very kind, welcoming and gentle. The front desk lady was also very sweet, she greeted me as soon as I came in and sparked up normal non dental conversation. She asked me how my visit was and helped me with my past bills. It looks like this place has received a few bad reviews in the last year but in my own experience, I had a great visit. I'll be back (:"

"As others have noted recently, this office has gone completely down hill. I have been going here for a few years and always had a great experience. I think I used to see Jamie, but when I went in for my appointment in October the office was like a ghost town. There seemed to be only one hygienist and the one I always saw along with all the other staffing was gone. I saw the one hygienist, a male dentist briefly and 2 girls at the reception desk. As the most recent review advised, the hygienist was very rough. I bled a lot and she said I would need a special deep cleaning even though I’ve gone consistently to my cleanings twice a year and proceeded to make a plan that my insurance would not cover most of and just went and printed it and brought it back and had me sign. She made it sound like if I didn’t do this, I would be putting myself in a pretty bad spot even thought I’ve always taken care of my teeth and I’m only 35. As the previous post advised she then did a very rough cleaning and made me hold my own suction tube. By the end, my shirt was soaked through and my teeth were sore for a couple weeks. I think her name was Nissa Latham and she seemed to be the only hygienist working there now. She was quite cold compared to my last hygienist. She then walked me out and said I needed to come back in a month or just whenever. I scheduled an appointment and went home and read the most recent reviews and realized the place is not the same. I feel like I got scammed out of money. I paid 125 out of pocket that day and then they ended up charging me even more later through a text message bill on top of what my insurance covered. Also, I decided to cancel my next appointment. I called them and left a VM due to no one answering the phones and kept getting appointment reminders. I had to call 3 times and leave a message and never got a call back. Do not go to this office. They are untrustworthy and trying to scam good people out of their money."

"Appointments seem to run a little behind schedule. I have usually had to wait 10-15 past my appointment time. The staff and dentist are extremely friendly and know what they are doing. Update: The waiting hasn't been an issue anymore so I have updated to 5 stars from 4... Zero complaints and nothing but positives from me. UPDATE - I am no longer going to Midtown! New Dentist and New Staff and horrible back end. They changed billing and sent me to collections over $47 dollars after paying them over $500 for the dental work at the time. They performed the service, I paid, insurance didn't cover what they expected (the 47) and instead of billing me they sent my account to collections. I have been going there for around 8 years, I would not recommend them to anyone now and a couple others that I know have left as well"
