"The food is authentic and really really good. Not fatty and not salty and great quality food. The beef goulash was better than the ones I had in Hungary with shredded well done beef with no fat and the sauce was perfect and thick. The campote is a juice made of orange, berries, and apple. It was very good. The ambience is quiet and quaint and there is free parking across the street from Burger King and Jewel Osco right behind the restaurant. I would definitely come back. And the pelmeni which are dumplings are so good too and they sell frozen also."
"The tastiest Ukrainian restaurant in Chicago! Their meals, desserts, and coffee justify an hour's drive for me. I love everything on the menu, and so does my Latin American husband. I tried banosh for the first time here (not a very popular dish in Poltava region), and it was rich, savory, and just finger-licking good. Adding fried pork lard (or Ukrainian chicharron, as my husband calls it) makes it even more palatable with a bit of chewiness. Varenyky and pelmeni are excellent as well. You can buy them frozen to take home, too. On top of that, the service is pleasant and friendly. Feels like we are visiting family."
"Came to Magic Jug and was blown away! The Olivie salad, along with their other dishes, was nothing short of delectable. A must-visit dining experience. Highly recommended!"
"Best Eastern European restaurant I've been to in the Chicagoland area. The quality, care and detail in the food here is unmatched in my experience. The prices are very fair, especially when accounting for the quality and portions. If you are looking for homey comfort food, this is the place to go."
