"My place to go to if I want a "PoorBoy sandwich". I have tried other spots and nothing comes close to this place. I usually get their Steak Poorboy and their spicy chicken poorboy. Both are so good! I usually get them with American cheese and their garlic butter. Definitely a must try if you like Poorboy sandwiches. I usually call ahead and place an order for pick up since it usually takes about 30min. For them to be ready. Always fresh too!"
"The food and service were excellent. I gave atmosphere 5 stars because they've retained the "cool" feel of super clubs I always loved. We stopped here after a funeral for a friend at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for Veterans. It was an emotional day; a sad day. I needed this stop: Comfort food prepared well and really friendly staff helped my somber feeling a lot. A gem in Joliet"
"This has been a family tradition of ours for years. Every time I am in the area, it’s a must to visit. The inside looks very similar to what I remember as a kid, a little renovation to the entrance. Best of all, the food remains just as amazing as it did too! Garlic Poorboy Sandwich, garlic twice baked potato and garlic salad. Yum! It’s so delicious!"
"Kitschy. Nostalgic. Packed!Great service. Famous for their poorboys. I had a yodel burger which is a poorboy but different meat..same French bread, same garlic butter but Swiss cheese added. I hv tried the poor boy before n my opinion of BOTH of these similar sandwiches is that they are lacking flavor, salt n they are Extremely greasy..I could not even eat it. Honestly the onion rings look amazing. The ham barley soup looked good. Bread was fresh.. French dressing is amazing. The service was very good. The double baked potato is delicious. The Mr. Pibb was flat. ALSO no separate fryers for people with seafood allergies? Its 2023. But overall its pleasant and I will return but just get another entrée."
"Our waitress was awesome. She answered all of our questions and we had many, since the menus don't really describe the dishes. Food was good, fries were "meh." The fried mushrooms were amazing and were served VERY promptly and a decent amount. It was our first time here and it was a little weird...the place opened in the 30s, must have been redecorated in the 80s and that was that...it smells like sewer when you walk in...kinda rank actually, and smelled musty inside as well which were put offs, but we are glad we tried it."
