I am an American. I love the Olympics. I used to watch it with my family growing up, and I have many wonderful memories of cheering and groaning at the TV with them. The Olympics fills me with awe: the opening ceremonies, the pageantry, the athleticism, the international cooperation, the stories of athletes who have overcome so much to get there.
But the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics feels different. I am not going to watch it. I am not going to follow it. I am not going to cheer.
Because I cannot ignore the human rights abuses of the Chinese government.
I cannot ignore the genocide of the Uyghurs. I cannot ignore the suppression of freedom of speech in Hong Kong. I cannot ignore the crackdown on pro-democracy activists in China. I cannot ignore the treatment of the Tibetan people. I cannot ignore the forced labor in Xinjiang.
I cannot divorce the Olympics from politics. The Olympics are political. They are about more than just sports. They are about values. They are about human rights. They are about justice.
I stand with the people of China who are fighting for their freedom. I stand with the Uyghurs, the Tibetans, the Hong Kongers, the Taiwanese, the dissidents. I stand with all those who are suffering under the Chinese government’s abuses.
I stand with the athletes who are speaking out. Those who are brave enough to put their careers on the line to stand up for what is right.
I stand with the activists who are calling for a boycott. Who are urging us to remember that the Olympics are not just about winning medals, but about standing up for what is right.
I stand with those who are saying: No. Not now. Not in China. Not while the Chinese government is committing genocide.
I stand with the people of China. And I hope you will stand with me.

Do you want to join the fight? If you want to help the Uyghurs and the people of China, here are some things you can do:
1. Educate yourself. Learn more about what is happening in China. Read about the Uyghurs, Hong Kong, Tibet, Taiwan, and the other human rights abuses of the Chinese government. The more you know, the more you can do to help.
2. Support organizations that are fighting for human rights in China. There are many organizations that are working to help the Uyghurs, the Tibetans, the Hong Kongers, and the other victims of the Chinese government’s abuses. Donate to them, volunteer with them, spread the word about them.
3. Speak out. Use your voice to raise awareness about what is happening in China. Talk to your friends and family about it. Write to your government representatives. Post on social media. The more people who know about what is happening, the more pressure we can put on the Chinese government to stop.
4. Boycott. Do not support the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Do not watch them, do not follow them, do not cheer. Do not buy products that are made with forced labor in China. Do not support companies that are complicit in the Chinese government’s abuses.
5. Stand with the people of China. Show your solidarity with the Uyghurs, the Tibetans, the Hong Kongers, the Taiwanese, the Dissidents. Let them know that they are not alone.
6. Never forget. Remember that the fight for human rights in China is not just about one event, or one group of people. It is an ongoing struggle. Keep fighting. Keep speaking out. Keep standing up for what is right.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can help the people of China. Together, we can stand up for justice.

"When I ordered online, I was expecting a Pizza Hut delivery driver to bring our food. Somehow after I ordered it got changed to doordash delivery. I did not want it to be changed to doordash. The pizza and side items were not sealed so whoever the doordash person was had complete access to our food."
"Website is trash! - Takes each page forever to load. Once you finally do get it to load AND get your order in, it doesn't want to take any CC info but you also can't say pay at store. Call center is trash! - Last time I ordered through the call center, the pizza was wrong...and very wrong. If you tell the call center person you want to talk to someone in the actual store, they hang up on you!"
"Personally I think Shelbyville Pizza Hut is digging its own grave. Pizza Hut used to the be number 1 pick for pizza. Dinning in was always a great experience. No more fountain drinks, no buffet, no server. It’s sad because I don’t see them staying in business much longer. Take it back 10-15 years ago and I would bet more people would come. It used to be a fun experience now it’s depressing."
"My order was ready on time. The people inside were friendly and helpful. Really love this place and the pizza is always great and those wings, I mean those wings are awesome!!"
"Pizza Hut has been a long time favorite going back to the 80's. We stopped in and ordered 2 large pizzas (1 pepperoni and 1 extra cheese), 2 orders of bread sticks w/ several cups of cheese/marinara and some small bottles of sodas (due to COVID no fountain drinks). The food was hot and delicious and the man that took our order was also making the food. He was great and not only brought the food to the table he came back several times to check on us and see if we needed anything. HE IS AN ASSET TO THE RESTAURANT! We will definitely be back."
