Steak 'n Shake 1305 Locke Drive, Bourbonnais, IL 60914

"I was very dissatisfied with this experience. They closed down the drive thru in the middle of lunch. I saw a man get served right before me then I pulled up to the window and she said,”we aren’t doing drive thru right now”. I go inside and there are 2 families and that’s it. I waited 45 minutes for my food and it was supposed to be quick I only ordered a single burger and small cheese fry. Made me late for class and I am just dissatisfied with everything tbh. It’s also very dirty. There was only one “clean” table(no visible debris) All I know is that closing a drive thru in the middle of lunch is very unprofessional. Made me late and this is my first time coming to this place in YEARS. The food was hot tho so that’s a plus."

"I’ve been going to Steak N Shakes since the 70’s. I don’t know where to begin. The food was Luke warm at best. The Chili Mac is nothing more than noodles with runny ketchup making it impossible to pick with the small cheap plastic forks. The single hamburger was cold. The small amount of meat wasn’t near the size of the bin. This isn’t limited to this location. My experiences at other locations in FL and downstate IL, we’re the same. The temperature in the dining area has always been cold, but we could put up with it because the food was great; NOT ANYMORE. The kiosk have taken away the atmosphere in the dining area. The service has declined but the prices went up! I don’t recommend any food. We’re done with Steak and Shake. Perhaps closing all locations; and not just a few, as I’ve noticed; might be best."

"Worst experience ever. If I had to compare it to another diner, White Castle in Bradley, even they're better. My mother and I walk in, no one greeted us, but they looked at us. Had to order at a kiosk, ridiculous. No servers anymore, so that's sad, we loved the smiling faces. The amount of people that walked out after they asked the cook if they had to use the kiosk and he said yes was just... wow. The floors were filthy and there wasn't a single clean table. We sat at a dirty table, but it was cleaner than most there. No one brings your food to you, they call your name and number (inaudible, I might add) and you have to go up and get it! Also, we were about to leave and the two cooks were asking where their cigarettes were, like we wanna hear that while we just finished eating. Keep that talk for the back. The food was good, but it wasn't even hot, it was almost less than room temp in my opinion. This is the first time we've been to a S&S in YEARS and we will NEVER come back."
