Holiday Inn Express & Suites Decatur, an IHG Hotel

"The room was nice, about the size I expected, clean and well stocked with the usual amenities. The pool heater wasn't working right, but they allowed us to use it anyway. The water wasn't that cold, and didn't take long to get used to it, so the kids had a blast. My biggest issue was with the desk personnel. No matter how many times we let the phone ring, trying to make our reservations over the phone, no one answered. I left some items in the room and am trying to find out if they are at the desk in lost & found, but no one ever answers the phone. This hotel isn't in a busy location, the folks at the desk during our stay were reading books or playing on their phones every time I happened to walk through the lobby, so why can't they pick up the blasted phone?"

"I am a Platinum Elite member, based on all my travels, this hotel is way overpriced. You typically find these prices in resort areas or large cities. For that price would have expected much more updated rooms. The pillows smelled old and bad, I had to put a towel over the pillow. A lot of road noise!"

"when we got there to check in, the employees were having a “christmas party” and we had to wait a good 10 minutes for someone, when they came out, they were very rude and barely spoke while they checked us in. then— a family friend went down for breakfast and she said EVERY item was expired, 2 people consulted an employee about this and she made a childish argument both times. wouldnt go here again"

"My room was pretty good (spacious and furnished with what might be needed. except the king size bed had an odd depression on one side of the bed. They need new mattresses. A deeper cleaning is also in order as there was some black mold on some of the caulking around the shower/tub."

"10/10/23 being my number one choice when I travel..I was disappointed.. room had a wet/mold smell to it.. front desk had a note saying "we will have a cold breakfast in the morning due to unforseen maintenance issues ".. when I ask the receptionist about it.. she said it's been like that all day (the note didn't have a date) and that they don't know if it was fix.. what a disappointment from a hotel that had always stand out.. guess it's time to look for a better chain of hotels even if I have to pay a little extra.. next day update 10/11/23 no hot breakfast, don't take a change and look for another place to stay unless you absolutely have to and you love to gamble with your comfort specially if you pay over 200 dollars for a room.. my countereasure will have been to get an electric portable stove(maybe two) the are like 20 each (from Wal Mart) and have employees cook the eggs and sausage on them and to keep them warm I would have bought two aluminum trays(family size) from family dollar.. with stand and the a few cans with the oil (the ones you put under those trays to keep them warm) total cost.. maybe 30 if that much.. management had time to prepare for breakfast for today and fail to do so, I mean they been down since yesterday.. just a disappointment experience over all. I don't want a dear customer message.. instead offer some type of discount."
