Birch Tree Day Spa

"Today I went to the Birch Tree Day Spa for a facial with Dawn Diehl. After I checked in I realized I was given a different esthetician. When I told the receptionist my appointment was scheduled with Dawn, she replied “your appointment has been bumped. We have a hierarchy.” I felt disrespected, therefore I was unable to relax and have a pleasant facial experience. I was highly disappointed given that I booked my appointment a month in advance to ensure I got the esthetician I wanted. Update: I received a call from the manager, Janet today. She offered me a free facial from either Shena or Dawn. However, if I decided to book with Dawn for the facial, it is a requirement that I take my Google review down. Janet also shared that both she and Dawn feel that me leaving a review before reaching out to management is “unfair”. I asked how it’s unfair that I shared my experience as nothing was fabricated and it was all true events. It is clear all they care about is positive Google reviews and not their actual clients. I am not desperate for a free facial as I have already paid the full price for one. Why am I expected to reach out before writing a review when they did not reach out before giving me a different esthetician? My review is staying up and I won’t be going back."

"I had a massage today with Jennifer and it was amazing! She was very attentive to my massage needs, really focusing on areas in need without taking away from others. The spa itself was very cute, clean, and relaxing. I am returning tomorrow for a facial and I assume it will be just as amazing! Update: Just had my facial with Kaylyn and it was wonderful! I would highly recommend both Kaylyn and Jennifer :)"

"I experienced my first visit to Birch Tree Day Spa this past weekend. The lobby was very inviting and gave a feel of relaxation the moment I hit the door. The friendly greeting I received let me know that I would definitely be back. Kaylyn has been my esthetician for a long time now and she's the best. Always amazing service from her. I would highly recommend Kaylyn and Birch Tree Day Spa. Can't wait to try other services."

"If I could give this place zero stars I would. First, cramped corner to sit in to wait for services - literally the size of a small closet with literal dining chairs - no one greets you, no offer of water or refreshment - this is definitely not a relaxing spa experience. High turnover of staff which is evident in how the owner treats her customers and obviously employees. They will email the day before to tell you that the person you’re booked with has left. This has happened twice. Have placed an order by phone for product when there was a special offer of a “free gift” and paid for it…when I went to pick it up they didn’t want to give the free gift and the owner never responded to me about it after several calls. Beware - the gift card scheme is a literal scam. Front desk never knows what they are doing and owner won’t return calls as evident in other reviews on Google and Facebook. Owner, Dawn, is not nice nor pleasant. Enjoy a real spa experience and go to The Spa at Ross Bridge or support another local spa in Birmingham that cares about their customers. You will leave here highly disappointed. Will not give this rude owner any more business. There are always a ton of available daily appointments listed on their social and now you know why. Have been to spas all over the world and this one majorly misses the mark in all aspects - gave it several tries just always got worse. Response to owners comment: Hello, I am a multi-time customer of your spa Dawn. I am happy to provide Google with bank records of purchases/visits upon their request. Most of your reviews seem to be 2+ years old and I am well within my rights to speak about my experiences and can do so without fear of retaliation. This is an email used to sell on a clothes reselling platform not a fraudulent business as you claim. It’s also my first negative review ever given online. As others mentioned (and I mentioned above) you don’t return calls and didn’t return mine the multiple times I had issues so I don’t plan to call again. You are in the service industry and should you start treating others that way maybe you won’t continue to get these reviews. I’m not the only one that’s left them. I wish you the best of luck and will not correspond further nor change my honest review."
