"Mobile Shoe Hospital and Western Store has my highest recommendation. I brought in a pair of Renaissance Faire style shoes for an alteration and I’m overjoyed with the job Bennie did for me at a very reasonable cost. Mine was an unusual request since these shoes are authentic replicas of 14th century French Poulaines shoes worn during the Renaissance. The shoes are period correct, down to the detail of extremely thin leather soles as was the style back then. Since I’m using them with my Ren Faire costumes outdoors on rough terrain, I needed the soles thickened to make them durable while retaining their authentic 14th century look. Bennie had the idea of adding another leather sole layer and a leather heel to each shoe, and feathering the new edges of leather so the end result looked and felt like a single sole. The shoes are red, and Bennie even mixed dye to match the addition to the original shoe color! The end result is superb, and I’m amazed and grateful for Bennie’s communication, friendliness, service, and craftsmanship on this project. I brought the shoes in and Bennie called to let me know he had already finished the job the next day! While I realize that not all jobs may be finished as quickly, I mention this to emphasize my first rate customer experience.
