"El Norte has a richly detailed interior with some great ambiance. The Mexican music is not too obtrusive and lends a pleasant background. The servers are efficient if terse, but they get the food and drinks out quickly. The best measure of a Mexican restaurant to me is the tamales. Here at El Norte they are quite good. The masa is a little bready, but the pork filling is dense and spicy. It's got a nice little accent to it. The beef enchilada is nondescript, but filling. The arroz was plentiful and aromatic. The taquitos were extremely crunchy, including the chicken filling, which was overdone and chewy. They have several Mexican beers, Coke products, and tea perfectly sweetened. Chips come out before your meal complimentary with decent salsa, and the queso is thin and tasty. We enjoyed a filling meal here."
