Anvil Lake Trail State Natural Area

"We hiked here twice in our vacay week, with all the choices around. Good trails, the woods are not overgrown so visibility is quite far. Plenty of trail...there were a number of cars in the lot but we never encountered anyone on the trails."

"somewhat buggy, but the trails are good. signage at trail intersections, well-used terrain and paths are easy to follow along with if you grab the map at the beginning or take a picture on your phone so you can plan your route. distances seem fairly accurate - we figured 3.8 miles by map, ended up with 3.65, so that's close enough. if you park the lot, there is a $5 daily use fee. not a big deal, we had a good hike on some easy and intermediate trails."

"This is a wildlife restoration Trail and we were able to observe and hear a good amount of Wildlife. We also saw several different tracks. The trail itself was not well marked and we were not able to easily find the parking area but it was worth the visit."

"Wonderful place to cross country ski and feed the chickadees. There is a warming cabin. When we were there there were several people feeding the birds and getting warmer on the Fire. It's not really a place for beginners. If you feel comfortable on skis I would highly recommend this. Once a government shutdown is over the grooming will resume?"
