"i took a tour for the apartment and brandon was super helpful, he explained everything the apartment had to offer and it felt like a friend who was helping move me into my apartment. brandon even stuck with me after being denied once and once i finally was approved he got me into an apartment asap, if you come for a tour or to apply ask for brandon!!"
"Went to tour a unit this past Tuesday, found one that myself and my boyfriend loved. The leasing agent Chris told us that there was someone else competing for the unit, and that we needed to apply ASAP and pay the holding fee to reserve the unit. He placed emphasis on the first come, first served policy and how important it was to be in compliance with Fair Housing laws. We paid a total of $450 to apply and hold the unit. Immediately after applying, I contacted the office and spoke with the leasing manager who assured me everything had been received to process our application. The next day, I received an email about needing to submit our pay stubs, even though they had already been sent the day before. I was advised again that this needed to be done urgently, as someone else was still “competing” for this unit. Later that same day, my boyfriend received a call about the complex not having his SSN to run his application — this made no sense seeing as he submitted the same application as I did and if they could see mine, then they should be able to see his. The leasing agent Chris advised him that it was really urgent for him to provide this information, as someone else applied for the unit as well and were neck and neck with them. My boyfriend provided the information, but if our application was submitted, and the holding fee was paid, then nobody else should have been “competing” with us for this unit until an approval or denial had been reached. When I attempted to call the office back and address my concerns, I got no answer. I strongly believe they started screening our calls. I sent an email, and that is when I got a phone call from Chris stating that they actually did have my boyfriends SSN, he just couldn’t see it because he had too many tabs on his computer screen open. That doesn’t even make sense. Fast forward to today, we’re informed that our application has been denied— no detailed explanation as to why, no instructions on how to get our holding fee back, and of course no one to speak to on the phone. Chris advised me he would give me a call back after he spoke with the leasing manager to go over possible options, but instead sent me an email with again, no instructions on how to get the $250 paid for a holding fee back and simply advised they they are choosing not to move forward with our application at this time. I strongly feel this property deliberately delayed the processing of our application in hopes of finding a more “preferred applicant”, which I’m sure they did. To some people this won’t matter, but to the ones that it does, it is something to consider before applying— it feels like we never stood a chance."
"I lived here for 3 years (2019-2022). As good an experience as anyone could ask for in an apartment complex. Maintenance was always responsive. Leasing agents always helpful and friendly. Area is close to Royal oak, birmingham etc. Good place to live at if you work at Beaumont; 7min drive. Walls were thin, but I’ve lived in apartments for the last 10ish years, and all walls in apartments are thin."
"This review is specifically rated for the service I've received and performance I've witnessed from Yvonne Ramos, the current property manager at 42 West. I moved here roughly 3 years ago and my first year was trying, to say the least. I won't go into specifics but I agree with other reviewers comments about the noise within units and quality of paint, cabinets, etc. But BACK to Yvonne and team. Once Yvonne arrived, I immediately noticed a shift in the overall feeling of community at this property and my satisfaction as a resident. Yvonne has been one of the best property managers I've ever witnessed -- she is extremely friendly, courteous, polite, timely, responsive and thorough. I know exactly what to expect from her and she has been consistently excellent in customer service in the past few years she's been here. In addition to her general pleasant and professional disposition, it is clear that she is dedicated to her job and wants to create an excellent community for her residents. She has led the way in developing consistent and fun community events, pizza nights, pool parties, breakfast events, and a general feeling of festivity year-round. Additionally, the rest of her management team is also very helpful and polite. We are given sufficient notice for all events happening at the complex and they always make sure to send both emails and also leave notices on our doors. They also typically post a calendar with "happenings" around town and at the clubhouse -- a small but very nice touch for helping to keep the residents "in the know". Dan, the maintenance manager, is prompt, courteous, and thorough with his work and performance. I think Village Green as a company should revisit some of their policies for acquiring poorly-insulated properties and also how they handle lease renewals for long-term residents (as another reviewer mentioned). But those items are not the fault or responsibility of the Management Team on property. So with that being said, Yvonne Ramos, Dan and the rest of the team here at 42 West are superb! I'm so happy to have lived here under their guidance."
