"I chose U-Pack for my recent move back to Chicago from Seattle/Tacoma. Figuring out how to move all your stuff 2,000 miles is a big job. Ultimately I settled on choosing U-Pack after thorough research on Google, Reddit, YouTube...as many places I could use to find information on the variety of moving options I came up with. I chose to load and unload at their facilities rather than have a cube/pod delivered. I arrived at their office and they had the paper work all ready to go, sitting on the counter. I explained my situation of needing an extra day and I was assured it was no issue (and it wasn't). Super friendly and helpful, right from the start. I drove around to find my cube and the facility is full of trucks moving around and rearranging semi-trailers. I interacted with a couple folks out there to coordinate access to the cube and having space to load up. Once again, really friendly and thoughtful. I had the same experience on the other end--the unloading process. It's always nice and appreciated to have good customer service but these people were downright enjoyable to work with. My shipping container arrived rather quickly with everything intact. I needed two days to unload as well. Again, no problem at all. If I move across country again, my research is complete. I'd easily go with U-Pack again based on this experience. 10/10"
"Only licensed to move out of state? That's what I was told. What kind of rule is that? I need to move from the south bend area to the UP near Wisconsin! The shortest way is through a little of Indiana then Illinois Wisconsin back into Michigan ( through 3 states) maybe the guy I talked to failed Geography?unless you take the scenic route! It's just as far as moving to South Carolina, don't waste your time I called the number on the website and got a different company? They transferred me to the wrong department then yet again to someone else that was a Red Flag to start!"
"Absolutely amazing from start to finish. My container had some mildew on the outside which I'm highly allergic to, so they came out immediately and switched the box. The initial quote was for my container to ship from Las Vegas to Indiana in 10 business days, but it arrived in 6. I was able to work with the local ABF facility and get all of my items quickly and safely. The team at the local ABF was so kind and helpful. I will definitely be using upack in the future versus pod or uhaul which I have experience with as well. Overall 10 out of 10 for sure."
"Customer service, communication, and quality of the trailer was great. My trailer arrived on time at my old address and was picked up on time when I called them. The trailer even arrived early and they worked with me to deliver the trailer to an address I didn't even know 24 hours prior to delivery. I found that calling and talking to an agent is your best option to get the best deal. Also call more than once because the pricing and availability of the trailers change daily."
"We used U-pack to move about 1,100 miles and would recommend them to anybody. If you are thinking about hiring U-pack (which is run by ABF Freight), then make sure you understand how the service works. Scheduling is done over the phone. They will estimate the amount of space needed in a moving trailer based on how big your current home or apartment is. The price will later be adjusted up or down if you use more or less space, at a fixed rate per foot of the trailer. This is an excellent feature. You can pay a bit extra for faster delivery and a guaranteed delivery date - this is one of the bigger advantages of working with U-pack. U-pack will bring a moving trailer to your home on the scheduled day, leave it there, and then pick it up after you've loaded it. The same is true of delivery. You will be able to track your moving trailer (like a package) once it leaves the local terminal. Communication is key with this company, and in our experience, they are very good at it. Making the reservation over the phone was a breeze. The dispatchers on both ends of the move (the ones you tell to pick up the trailer after loading/unloading) were friendly, direct, and helpful. Both drivers (the ones who drop off the trailer on each end) were great. You can save a lot of money with U-pack but there are two costs to keep an eye on. One is moving blankets. The other is hiring professional crews to load and unload for you, which you should do unless you are moving a relatively small number of belongings. For us, the hard part was finding a crew to load who could safely and efficiently use the full vertical space in the trailer. If you're thinking about using U-pack for a large interstate move, here are the pros and cons. PROs: competitive pricing that adjusts based on your actual load, great communication, guaranteed delivery date (with small fee). CONs: You need to work with three companies instead of one, your loading crew must be top-notch, renting/buying moving blankets may be a minor headache."
