"Landlord is an absolute NIGHTMARE. I'd give negative stars if I could. Do NOT rent here if you can avoid it, not worth the cheap price. Tried to punish me for smoking perfectly legal weed in my car out in the parking lot. He asked to come into my apartment to SMELL AROUND past 9 pm to see if "I was smoking in the house". He also doesn't even let folks smoke ciggies in the parking lot. Also doesn't provide enough garbage receptacles for the amount of tenants- 2 bins for probably at least 25-30 units. Joe Seacrest is a pathetic excuse for a landlord."
"The apartment manager, Joe Seacrest, repeatedly contacted us stating that dumpsters could not be used even though garbage disposal was an included utility. When we initially signed our lease, he screamed at us that he never said we could pick up our keys yet even though he called me the night prior to verify when I was picking them up the next day. He also screamed at me that he could deny an ESA and if he found animals in the apartment, he would evict us which violates the Fair Housing Act and that I could take him to court if I had an issue with it. He is completely unprofessional and verbally abusive to tenants."
"The manager (at least when I lived there in 2019), Joe, was actually a great person despite these negative reviews. My car was having trouble starting in the midst of winter with sub zero temperatures and he went out of his way to physically help me and lend me extension cords, tools, etc. Some people are just so grumpy. Anyway, this place might be older but if you love the outdoors it's right next to Lake Superior, trails, the balconies are wonderful, and there is a hockey rink across the street in the winter. I would walk to NMU every day as a student and cheerleader who didn't have a car so it is very close."
"Fellow tenants have been very friendly, however management has had a high rate of turnover in the past couple years and is almost impossible to get in touch with. If you want to reach them within the same day I suggest calling the "emergency" cell number. This gives staff a low rating in my book. The interior is old and run-down, they appear to be trying to move in the right direction and making some updates, but ensure you view the apartment with good lighting and look closely at details. Be very specific on the list of damages when you move in and keep it in a safe place for when you move out, if there is any damage when you move out you WILL be charged. I rate the grounds low due to the condition of the parking lot; it should have been re-surfaced years ago. The motion sensors do not trip the lights at night until you almost reach the door and the doors are often propped open throughout the day (to air out the smell of damp basement/cigarette smoke) or do not latch properly, so safety ranks low as well. Check to see if a maintenance person is on site prior to renting, they did not have anyone for sidewalk snow removal for a few winter months this year and very seldom are the public areas cleaned (i.e. windows, carpet). Do not expect anything great, if your reading this a few months from my posted date give them a look, but if anything looks even close to what I described RUN."
"Please don't live here if you have the choice. You really get what you pay for. The first landlord stole money from everyone and ended up going to prison for it. The second landlord is never in her office and screams at her children at all hours of the night. She is constantly smoking and it stinks up all the apartments around it. The management constantly tries to make up new rules and fees, and are not willing to work with anyone. The maintenance man has no idea what he is doing, and we have broken things in our apartment for over a year. Both are never available or easy to get ahold of. My apartment was NOT clean when I moved in, and yet I am expected to clean everything in order to get my money back. It smells terrible and there is chipping paint all over the place. Not a good place for kids to live. It's disgusting and ugly."
