"Me and hubby did some mountain biking. Trails were nice but beware there are lots of roots and hills."
"A hidden gem not far off the beaten path. Excellent adventures await. Well marked and maintained trails make this stop a must for your next getaway to the woods."
"Loved this well marked trail. Tons of signage and we’ll groomed trails. Hidden treasure. On the way out we had the pleasure of meeting the lovely couple who skillfully and expertly created the trails. Very good for an family/beginner. We’ll be returning to explore the trails we didn’t get to today."
"A network of low-impact single-track trails run through a woods of largely medium-sized northern hardwoods and pines. Aptly named, this wooded area teems with white pine growth; a sea of seedlings scattered across the forest floor reaches skyward to an expansive canopy of soft swaying needles. Other trees share the canopy including red and white oaks, red maples, red pines and clonal stands of big-toothed aspens. Trails sidle up small ridges and traverse low wooded swales. Near the US-131 freeway and a gateway to Northern Michigan, tis an excellent location for a relaxing hike, an exhilarating run with the dog, or a scenic ski-daddle through the forest. *This recreational area contains healthy forests emblematic of Northern Michigan mixed hardwoods, but, as is the case with many of our forests, it is threatened by invasive species. Of note, the invasive autumn olive (Elaeagnus umbellata) was observed at multiple locations along the trail. The autumn olive appears to currently (10/2022) be limited in distribution. As such, it would be timely for a state, county or local entity to organize and implement an invasive species control program, recruiting volunteers from the public to nip the autumn olive in the bud lest it take over the understory of this beautiful forest. "Went for a hike with our son and his family and it was beautiful. Perfect place for a quiet walk in the woods. Trails are marked and my dog was welcome. Best kept secret around."
