"Lovely place. I did not pay to go to the museum. I left that for next time. The drive there was absolutely stunning!"
"Totally worth a visit! You can walk in and see the museum and climb to the top of the lighthouse. Beautiful place. It costs to park $11 for a vehicle and then costs to enter the lighthouse but I don't remember how much. $8 PP, I think. Credit card accepted here. You'll need cash for the parking ticket if you pay upon arrival. We were there Friday or Saturday but I don't remember which."
"My wife and I, photographers on a journey around Lake Michigan, had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Traverse Lighthouse in September 2023. This historic lighthouse, located at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, is a true gem. The lighthouse, which has been guiding ships in the Manitou Passage of Lake Michigan for over 150 years, offers a unique glimpse into maritime history. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse Foundation has done an exceptional job in restoring this site to its 1920s and 1930s glory, making it feel like stepping back in time. We were impressed by the informative exhibits, meticulously crafted to resemble a lighthouse keeper's home from the 1920s and 30s. Climbing the spiral staircase to the tower was a highlight, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Michigan and the surrounding area. The vantage point is perfect for photographers seeking stunning shots. In addition to the lighthouse itself, we explored the Fog Signal Building, where we learned about the area's shipwrecks and even had the chance to operate a remote-operated vehicle (ROV). The Grand Traverse Lighthouse is not just a historic site but also a gateway to understanding the rich maritime history of this region. Parking was easy to find in the park across from the entrance, even with our 36-foot RV. The friendly staff and the beautiful natural surroundings, including the nearby playground and hiking trails, added to our enjoyable experience. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photographer, or simply seeking a picturesque spot to visit, the Grand Traverse Lighthouse should be on your list. It's a captivating destination with a captivating history. Admission fees are reasonable, and the memories you'll create here are priceless. Don't miss this hidden gem on your travels around Lake Michigan. Thomas Corrao Stray Compass Life - Facebook"
"Beautiful lighthouse of the museum. It's a long long drive to the point, but once you're there you can say you've been to the farthest point and that peninsula. Take some time. Enjoy it. Playing today but everybody should see the nice little gift. Shop the beach the museum well worth it"
"The beach and the grounds around the light house were beautiful. Did not go inside the building/museums because I had my Grandpup with me. It was awesome sitting on the beach, looking at all the rocks and watching the seagulls and a few boats out on the water. Very peaceful."
