"This store is an experience. It can only be described as a treasure hunting paradise, and it is NOT for the faint of heart. This is not your neatly organized view the shelf kind of establishment, this is "it sits where it fits, and that's it." I have been a thrifting, antiquing, salvage yard crawling individual since I was knee high to a grasshopper and ya'll the place made me just stop. I just needed a dresser and a nightstand after arriving in Detroit last fall. Those diy build a furniture pieces aren't adequate enough for grown folk clothes. Thankfully as I short circuited one if the employees saw me and inquired what I was looking for, and then proceeded to lead me on an adventurous path around the store. He showed me one dresser then looked at me and said "Mm....no. That doesn't look like something you would want and much like the Hare in Alice he rushed off toward another section of the store as I raced to keep up. It's not only vintage- its also hotel liquidation, and he took me to a dresser that was exactly what I had been seeking, along with several matching nightstands. Then he said "Do you want to see the second floor?" Sir my wallet was not prepared for the first floor, let alone a second, I thought, as I politely declined the second floor invitation on the way to checkout, as I deftly retrieved a vintage leather attaché case that I didn't need, to add to my bill. My child would later lay claim to said case and we have agreed that it I will maintain custody unless he should find himself a law school graduate..... I can't tell you how ridiculously affordable the bill was, including delivery (delivery was in HOURS because the truck was coming to my neighborhood that day anyway!) Especially after weeks of looking on FB at "flipped" dressers for hundreds upon hundreds of dollars, or diy builds for double the unbuilt price, or even just grandmas dresser that hadn't even been wiped for photos. I went to a habitat store, thrift stores, and perused holiday sales with no luck...but Fred's laughed and said, "We gotchu." Will I be back? Absolutely, after string coffee and a protein filled breakfast, and maybe a headlamp to thoroughly examine every nook and cranny because it is after all a treasure hunters paradise. 10 out of 10- highly recommend!"
"What a great place to shop for modern, vintage and antique furniture/collectables. My Wife and I stopped in to check the place out. We were both just amazed at the great quality and large quantity of inventory. We spent nearly 3 hours there and found some spectacular items. Both Fred and Craig were very helpful and courteous. Note; because of the abundance of inventory, the place could be a bit overwhelming. Not to worry, ask either Fred or Craig to show you around. Tell them Duane and Patty sent you."
"Since I was a child my family has been going to Fred's for all our furniture needs and each time we've always walked away happy. I'm 28 now and after years I've recently revisited Fred's and low and behold the same great service the same amazing people and complete customer satisfaction. If there's any place I'd personally recommend visiting it's Fred's. You can't go wrong shopping at Fred's. You'll find borderline anything you're looking for at great prices. 10/10 would strongly recommend going here!"
"Fred's is an absolute hidden gem and an antiquer's paradise. We visited from across the state this summer, and spent almost 3 hours literally digging for treasure. Fred, Shelby, and all the staff were so welcoming and resourceful when it came to helping us find what we needed. We walked away with two unique pieces (as advertised) that we cleaned up, and are now apart of our home. Can't wait to visit again!"
"On my first visit to Detroit, my son, who has visited many times, took me to Fred's, promising that I would not be disappointed. As the number of used-items stores has decreased over the years in our particular location in Alabama, I did not expect to be thrilled with Fred's. I could not have been more wrong. To say that Fred's is packed with genuine (by my humble standards) treasures is an understatement of colossal proportions. In my 3/4 of a century of wandering the surface our planet, I have never experienced not only the incredible quantity of useful and usable items but have rarely experienced the kindness and caring of every member of Fred's staff. I am, of course, very impatient to go back. The only problem my son and I had was the lack of space to pack treasures for the drive back home. I encourage anyone who needs a unique Christmas gift for that special someone to visit Fred's. If you cannot find it at Fred's, you didn't look hard enough. Just ask any member of the staff for help. Just talking with Fred and the gang is a joy in itself."
