"The nastiest place I've ever been. The walls are thin. The heat barely works. Bathrooms are always dirty. On top of that roaches and bed bugs are everywhere. Not a place I would ever recommend!"
"The Normandie Hotel is not perfect but it gets five stars because of the following reasons: 1. No felony background checks; 2. No credit checks; 3. No housing discrimination; 4. Immediate occupancy; 5. Nice cozy clean room. Surprised the hell out of me. Laid on that bed and fell out. TV, a little refrigerator, and a microwave. I loved it. 6. It is a place to live when it is hard to find a house or an apartment right away; and 7. The people there do not tolerate no BS. They will not allow you in without pay stubs. If I ever find myself in a position where I need and immediate roof over my head, I know where to go."
"Creepy atmosphere. Hella old people. Smells like old people in the hallways. Roaches in the bathrooms and Bedbugs in the rooms, manager acted as if I brung it in; didn't wanna give me my money back. If you're single down on your luck w Lil to no money and no place to go & don't mind bug's then this would be ok for you."
"I been working on this building for 20 years. It is what it is, a old hotel in the city of Detroit. It was in shambles when I started working there. The neighborhood was borderline scary, the bathrooms looked like Beirut, and not a room in the place had any improvements done to them in over 16 years. I use to have to argument with the prior GM just to get a gallon on paint, he crazy talk about how paint a room makes it smaller. However with a lot of hard work and time spent bleeding and sweating I managed to make it a nice, clean and respectable place to live in. It's not a gem yet, I need another 5 years till I can say it is though. If you choose to stay here in your life know that you will be comfortable in a well managed, safe, clean and reasonably updated room that is a cut above anything else you will find in this neighborhood. This is not a review, just my view point. I hope you enjoy your stay..."
"Sooooooo.. I gave 3 stars because I came to see a friend who is down on luck and between apartments rite now. I get there and it's pretty big and it's very pretty and historic(old). Does have bugs and you do share bathrooms. Quiet, not so sure about. Peaceful, yes but the lady in the room next to me talked loudly all nite. I woke up exhausted, attempted to leave 3 times but didn't want my friend to think I was actin funny. BUT this place seems to be for mayb people in hardship with little money and you can pay weekly. It's 100+ taxes to stay a whole week. So if you need sumwhere to stay in a stressful situation and you have a couple dollars. By all means, check them out. Not for me, and mayb they should change the name, ugh and remodel a little"
