"When my engine failed on Eighth St. in Traverse City I was turned down by Northwest Engine and Auto Repair who had put my engine in in 2019. I immediately called Mike's Auto in Atwood and they said they would do the job. The first engine that was delivered was wrong so the did not accept it and took photos of it so I could prove it was the wrong engine. The second one arrived and they jumped on it. When the other engine was shipped it had a few damage parts when removing. Mike's Auto were able to use parts off my existing engine to keep the price down. As a woman I felt comfortable using their services. Both Jeremy and Thomas worked with my budget and my old engine to help save money. I would highly recommend them for all Auto Repairs as I have used them in the past and they have treated with much respect and dignity."
"My new bride and I had a starter go bad on our northern Michigan honeymoon - thanks to a referral from our Airbnb host, we learned about Mike's Auto. Mike was extremely gracious to fit us in despite calling on a Thursday afternoon. It turned out to be Saturday before we got a call, but Jeremy from the shop drove all the way to Kalkaska to pick up a new starter and get us back on the road. Then he drove to our stay so I didn't have to walk over. Absolutely fantastic customer service - 10/10 would recommend the team at Mike's. Thank you Mike and Jeremy!!"
"I used to use Curt's Auto Care but he retired. I had my first experience with Mike's Auto Care today. An oil change and fix a tire. Very thorough and professional. Cheerful and friendly service. All done in an hour. Very reasonable price. They will be my new car care guys."
"Under New Owners! Very accommodating! They have the best rates around for tires and vehicle lifts! They did both my Jeep and my husbands truck and we are both very happy with the work! Check them out on FB to see how our vehicles turned out! You'll be very happy with your experiences at "Mikes Auto Care" the same as we are! They are our trusted auto mechanic shop and they should be yours too! Also DONT forget to ask about their up and coming student discounts! They saved my new driver over $200.00 just for having good grades!"
"I used Mikes for years (2007 on) because he was very close to my home. Suddenly in 2013, the cost for an oil change jumped 50% more than it has ever been. My wife asked me to follow up on it to see if there was an error in billing. We cut a check but, before mailing it I asked Mike why it was so much more, was there an error perhaps? Mike got very angry and told me his prices were his to charge and was very angry that I questioned him or his prices. He told me never to come back, used the F-bomb and said he was tearing up the invoice and throwing it in the trash. We sent the check anyway, but it was not cashed. During the time frame I used Mikes, I had a fuel pump replaced on my Yukon. Mike encouraged me to buy the pump with a lifetime warranty. Since I loathe changing fuel pumps I went with that. Not long afterwards the pump needed to be changed again and was honored under the warranty. Just last week the fuel pump went out again. Since Mike had sold the business to a family member, I figured I may as well try to get the fuel pump replaced under warranty. They told me first they needed to prove to themselves it was the fuel pump. I had it towed into them. Finally after five days they said “yes, it looks like the fuel pump”. However, they don't have invoices from that far back and wont honor the warranty unless I still have my invoice from back in 2009. I told them there was a bar code and to follow it back to the auto store it was purchased at and that I have the original check, this way with a specific date and the pump bar code they may find the proof they needed by going to the store they purchased all their parts from. Later they called and said I never purchased a fuel pump, even though I have a check but not the invoice. They stated they won’t work with me because her father had me on “no service” list from the time I question his invoice amount. I told her why I was on this list, she indicated I wasn't telling the truth, her father wouldn't do that. I told her I have witnesses to the event that were actually in the shop overhearing the phone call. When I mentioned that to her she said good bye and hung up on me. If I was on their “no service”, list, then why take five days to tell me this? And why tell me to go ahead and have the vehicle towed to them? I think they did find the proof of warranty and don't want to honor it, instead, they are going back to the escape clause of her father not wanting to work with me in order to avoid living up to the lifetime warranty. If that were truly the case, they would have told me that before having my vehicle towed there. Just beware, if you go there, don't ever make the mistake of questioning your bill. In their minds you have no right to do that and it offends them greatly."
