Steak 'n Shake 5990 Beckley Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015

"This is so sad. Steak and shake used to be a favorite, and we will not be back. First experience when you walk in is silence from the staff. The manager was up front cooking and didn't even acknowledge we'd walked in looking confused. There are no menus and no one to take your order. Instead, self order kiosks. It took us a solid 10 minutes to order on our own because we didn't know what we wanted to eat before we got there. It was painful. Then, they print out the receipt and some bar codes. No direction at all. You apparently have to take your ticket to a scanner to unlock the pop machine. Be careful that you don't accidentally scan it too many times because there is a limit. We had to go find someone else to fix it because it wouldn't release the pop. It was so frustrating for everyone! Cheese fries came out with cold cheese in cups. They don't put cheese on top anymore, even though it shows it on the pictures on the kiosk. Corporate won't let them do it anymore. They call your name, and you go up to get your food, then clean up after yourself, and the kiosk still asked for a tip when checking out. The experience was pretty awful. The food was acceptability mediocre, to be expected, I guess, but the whole experience left me very sad. This is exactly why we have stayed away from corporate chains. It is a good reminder to support small.business where you are a person, not a dollar sign, and the people there actually care."

"Floors dirty. Smell of stinky socks slightly. This self order and credit only then asking for tip. Sorry no good. I love steak n shake this one tho no bueno..also shake tasted like old dirt.. No refunds for your 3$ shakes can have a 2$ pop tho or a new shake lol.. this would be a Karen's dream house managers nice tho about it all"

"The ordering kiosk was dirty and disgusting. It is rude to expect a tip when you receive zero customer service. The tables were dirty. The "community" ketchup bottles were low and dirty. The staff did not say one word to us. The hamburger was much smaller than the bun. Will not eat here again. Food was cold. Not sure why they are in business."

"I ordered 3 steak hamburgers 1 with everything for my friend 1 without cheese and mayo for me 1 without cheese and mayo, tomatoes picture's showing -was for my son.. Took one bite and yuck didn't even look done didn't look like the other 2 don't know what it was"
