Kal-Ho Lounge

"I never have a bad time when I visit this local bar. The staff are always friendly and personable and they deal with the influx of people that usually accompany my group after our wrestling event, and they do so with both aplomb and grace. The food is always top-notch; delicious would be a good descriptor, but actual care is taken in preparing it, so it is beyond just delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and there are two very distinct sections of the bar, which lends itself to different sorts of get-togethers. The pool tables on the one side of the bar give an activity for my friends and I, and they even have a dart board. They have a jukebox on that side, and a live DJ on the other side, which is darker than the pool table side and filled with tables. There is a bar on both sides, so no need to wander very far for a drink or anything else you may need. I always love when I am afforded the opportunity to go to Kalkaska for wrestling at MCPW, because I know the evening will end at Kal-Ho's, and that is always a welcome place to be at."

"Cool place for the most part, nice clean level pool tables. Don't be afraid to challenge the locals that hog the tables to a game of pool. They will stack 15 piles of coins on the table to deter you from trying to play and leave them there all night."

"Place is great and always has really good food. My mom had issues with her food and they just took it back and brought her a new plate everything fresh. I never had issues with food there; only issue I've ever had is I gotta wait 10 minutes to eat it because it's so hot. Haha"

"This place is ancient and well maintained, a lot hof history here (my dad occasionally visited back in the day). Food is surprisingly good, in fact it's very good! Try the pizza. Certainly worth stopping in at for a beer, food, and friendly conversation with a local and/or traveler. Be persistent with ordering, the staff is often too light, usually having one person behind the bar, to also wait tables, she works hard and does a good job, so tip her accordingly. Motorcyclist friendly, ride safe, drink some water too."
