"After not feeling listened to or like I could express myself, I started having a severe panic attack (I have a panic attack disorder along with my anxiety). I felt like I was dying and having a heart attack. She did nothing to make sure I was okay or to try to calm me down. She just sat at her computer in silence typing notes and ignoring me as I was grasping at my chest and my throat, and I was truly terrified and in an insane amount of physical pain. She then tried explaining to me medications while I’m hyperventilating and struggling to breathe, talk, and function rationally. When I couldn’t give a proper answer to her, she said “we’ll talk more tomorrow” and made me pack up my stuff to escort me out of the building, to where I had to force myself to suppress my hyperventilating, which made my chest hurt intensely. She then started questioning if I wanted inpatient care, and I again wasn’t able to give a proper answer. She told the front desk at urgent care that I may be back for an inpatient care evaluation, and told me to have a great day. All without making sure I was mentally and physically okay. It took my fiancé about 20-30 minutes to calm me down enough just to even get me to explain what happened. She also put things that I said in my medical notes out of order to where it was not 100% accurate as well. This experience was my very first time meeting her. Once I receive paperwork in the mail, I will be filing a complaint against her. EDIT: They didn’t bother sending me paperwork, so I called in to make a complaint about her. I get a letter back in the mail saying she did nothing wrong and her “documentation” (which was inaccurate in the first place) proves that she was in the right. She needs to lose her license. Anyone I’ve personally talked to who have experienced “care” from her all agree that she is the absolute devil."
"This woman is the devil, and she makes Pine Rest alot of money holding patients against their will in a hospital, I was a victim of this crazy fruitcake doctor and her demeaning and cruel intentions not allowing me to be discharge all because I couldn't and wouldn't be talked into taking a shot for my anxiety, also threatening my family with holding me longer if I did not comply, well I spent 6 additional days in Pine Rest and I will be refusing to pay this bill if any! Patients should not be scared in a hospital that claims to help with mental health, this fruitcake is not helping thoses with mental heath she is the cause of it!"
"Demeaning and untrustworthy. Cruel."
"Doctor Mathis-Allen was incredibly impressive with kindness, compassion, and thoroughly getting to the bottom of my situation. I've had many psychiatrists and I have never felt more honest, cared for, understood, and open than I have with Dr. Mathis-Allen. It was because of her help that I can move forward with my life with better understanding of my diagnosis."
