Tru by Hilton Comstock Park Grand Rapids

"We arrived Friday evening and the front desk clerk whose name was Katherine I believe, an older lady with wavy brown hair and glasses, was extremely nice and welcoming as we had just arrived. She checked us in and within a few minutes we were able to get up to our room with no issues. Probably the fastest I've ever been checked in before and for reference I made our reservation through a third party site, I believe Priceline. The room was pretty modern with a smart TV and the key card slot to power the lights. The bathroom was clean but the shower could have had another once over to ensure no small hairs or anything. The bed was more on the firm side with very soft pillows and a thin comforter. Not an issue on our side as my daughter and I get hot very quickly. The breakfast had a nice variety that consisted of a pancake machine, eggs and sausage, bagels, cereal, fresh oatmeal, fruit, and toppings (such as powdered sugar and sprinkles for pancakes and brown sugar and granola for oatmeal) for everything. The breakfast was good and the pancakes machine was interesting as you waved your hand and watched the machine dispense batter and then cook the pancake and shoot it out the other end. There was complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby all day long. The lobby was really cute with little cubbies for people who wanted some privacy while they were waiting, couches and booths, swinging egg chairs, and tables near where the breakfast would be in the morning. There was an area behind the desk that had a TV, a sectional, lounge chairs, and some games. All in all great stay and would definitely recommend. Location was about 12 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids and there were plenty of options for food in the area. About half the price of staying downtown but I would stay here again."

"This would be 5 stars for me if it wasn't for the paper thin walls/ceilings. It sounded like we had a Gym above us. I called the front desk and they assured me it was another guests room. I couldn't believe it with the amount of noise coming from above us but in fact it was. I checked. ALL NIGHT you could hear noises that sounded like they were auditioning for Riverdance. This is our 5th time staying at this hotel and unfortunately, not the first time we've been kept up by the lack of sound dampening between the rooms. This was our go to hotel when we come into town to visit family but this will be our last stay. If you like falling asleep to the sound of a heard of elephants, this just may be the hotel for you."

"The place is new, cozy modern decor, with no carpet in the rooms. The result is noise. Every sound from above, next door, and beyond. If you sleep through thunderstorms, you’ll be fine. We sleep with a white noise app that didn’t cover it. The front desk staff were friendly and lovely but not empowered to stop the kid-fueled chaos of a large family enjoying the lobby late Saturday night."

"My family and I stayed here on Saturday, January 14th after our power went out due to the winter storm. The front desk clerk was amazing and went above and beyond. The rooms were clean and quiet. 10/10 will stay here again. If any of the management reads this, the front desk clerk working during the dates we stayed there is one of the best and most helpful hotel clerks I've ever interacted with. I left my backpack in my room after checkout and he kept it safe for me so I could return for it. Amazing employee! Give him a raise!"

"Adorable little hotel for a quick stopover. Staff was courteous and friendly, the entire hotel was super clean. The hotel was welcoming wel lit and friendly in a nice area. Looks like I saw some outdoor seating and a fire pit too. Gym on site. Breakfast area was comfy and spread out and breakfast offerings were nice. Fresh bagel and cream cheese and eggs with a fresh orange. I would have appreciated in room coffee but none there."
