"ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS! Not only is Sunlife a joke and treat the people that PAY THEM like peasants, rude and act like we are annoying them anytime calling or asking questions about OUR OWN POLICIES but they have the audacity to with hold my tax forms to file my taxes for 2023!! They seriously told me “we don’t have an open file for you so we don’t have to send them!” I no longer am getting my LTD through them as of 9/1/2023 however they still paid me in 2023!!! I paid taxes!!!! No wonder my employer ended the contract with them!!! For month on LTD I had to basically beg them to pay me and constantly send in the same documents from my doctor they insisted I go to my doctor weekly and pay out of pocket for the visits as I had no insurance at the time either!! They are so disgusting!!! DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH SUNLIFE! I have reported them to the IRS and Better Business Bureau."
"This company is a scam, never use it."
"Please, please, please do not USE this company. I have had this insurance for 18 years. I have never once used it until recently when I had to have hysterectomy for extremely painful fibroids. I requested the paperwork as soon As I was told I was going to have surgery and submitted according to their checklist. I was taken off work 9/23/21, surgery done 10/22 and still no check.....today is 11/10/21. Thank God I have been blessed to save money and all my bills are paid, but this is sad that I have donated over $30,000 to a company that wont even pay me my $2000 a month. What a joke!!! UPDATE!!!! I did appeal the decesion of them denying my claim and was paid a partial amount, then appealed that again and was compensated the remaining balance of what I was due. I also canceled that policy. This particular company denies claims for ridiculous reasons. All I had to do was reiterate my issue, quote a law that they have to abide and the claim was paid."
"This place takes the longest possible to give you any money. Ridiculous."
"I feel like this company can really nickel and dime us. I am on short term disability and they have already negated a week right in the middle of it because “my physician didn’t turn in the paperwork on time”. Although his office states they did. Now as I’m coming off and starting back to work on July 1st they state they’ll only pay me through June 29th, not the 30th although the rep I talked to yesterday made it all sound like they would fulfill it. Why one day? It just amazes me how much we all pay in insurance and yet they find all of these ways to not pay us when we do need their services. I hate sounding like a b*#+% and want to be fair, but being a nurse I’ve watched my patients go through this for 30 years. This is the first time I’ve really used disability and thought it would go more smoothly, but sadly no. The one thing I always think: Obviously the Investors/Board’s off shore bank accounts need to be lined a bit more thickly."
