"Tiny cottage in the woods. (Bonbright Cottage) We had a difficult time mapping to Stone Hotel and Cottages (gps) as it is actually the campus of Interlochen School of the Arts. The cottages are about a 2 mile drive from the hotel, but the staff on the phone were helpful providing directions. The cottage was old, and smelled old, and felt like it could use a good deep cleaning (e.g. the blinds were very dusty). The bedroom had 2 twin beds that were comfortable, but we had to physically move them to maneuver around the room, and there was only a single dresser next to one; no nightstands. The bathroom was tight but adequate, and the kitchen had full-sized appliances. The left half of the cottage was a large porch. They utilize traditional keys and it's very easy to lock yourself out! And being 2 miles from the office can be rather inconvenient if your phone and car keys are locked in the cottage! Always keep your key on you."
"It wasn't bad. It's cool they offer meals with your stay at their cafeteria. The room was cozy and beds were comfortable. No sign of bedbugs. But definitely do not stay here if you are disabled. There is no parking close to the hotel and then there is a fairly decent sized flight of stairs. They really should explain this on their website about the parking/stairs, I had to drag our luggage a bit of a distance and up the stairs then help my mother who is disabled (double neck surgery, fall risk and several other issues) up the stairs."
"I'm so happy I found there was a hotel on campus while dropping my son off at Interlochen. I was happy to spend more time and get to see the campus. Tiff was the best and was so helpful!"
"While the staff was friendly, I was less than impressed with this hotel. The directions to parking and how to find the hotel on the campus were extremely poor. Upon checking in, we received additional charges and the staff couldn’t even tell us what they were for! Paying the additional money for a view of the lake wasn’t worth it unless you want a nice view of porta potties and trees. While it is a nice of them to offer free breakfast, lunch and dinner the quality of the food was not great and turned our stomachs. Don’t count on the hotel looking like the photos posted either, while it is Interesting they allow their student to decorate each room they are crammed and overall disappointing. If you have students your are visiting this is a nice option, however it should not be open to the public and could use some upgrades/attention to details."
"The location had some very nice views, the service was typical. You cannot pull your car up to unload/load any luggage, there is about 200 yard walk to carry everything. The room was small, the bathroom non existent. There was a layer of dust on the night stand, and overall the room didn't seem to be very clean. If I were in the area again, I would not be staying there again."
