"Absolutely AMAZING! Beautiful building, wonderful staff. I saw Dr Kim Quiggley, I wish I could tell everyone that she is the absolute best! She cares so much, listens carefully, makes a plan right away, talks with other drs to get opinions (so rare and professional!), and you just feel so comfortable."
"I thought the staff were all friendly. There were two ladies that helped us find our way (we were kind of confused with the elevators) parking was free the doctor and his nurses were very nice to us. It was very beautiful on the inside lots of plants, photographs and art. Very clean. Nice updated furniture. The desk ladies were helpful and friendly. There was someone playing a piano which was nice. They offer valet parking as well which I thought is a nice gesture for those who need it. The doctor my husband saw was very serious about getting to the bottom of this and seemed to be doing every test possible which we appreciate. Leaving was hard as it was around rush hour and that part of town seems very busy."
"Beautiful building! Might forget you're sick for a second. Piano player in the lobby. Awesome!!"
"Very disappointed with my treatment in the lymphedema department. I have chronic lower extremity lymphedema that is difficult to treat. I've been self managing for five years, and have seen two other lymphedema therapists in California with limited but noticeable results. I recently moved to Grand Rapids and started seeing a therapist here for new and worsening lymphedema in my legs. In my opinion the therapist is not highly skilled at wrapping (the primary skill needed for reduction and management) and the department does not have access to good quality and variety of materials to make wrapping affective. The measurement taking technique is not adequate for measuring results. I'm assuming the department is relatively new, or has had some budget cuts or something, but I do much better work on my own at home. The treatment provided here is probably adequate for someone with new or mild lymphedema who has no experience with it. I expressed my concern to the department head regarding not getting results, and asked to switch to see a different therapist and I feel like I was treated with hostility. They said all of their therapists "do the exact same thing" and there was no point in switching and that they were happy to cancel the rest of my appointments, effective immediately. I explained that I was not coming from a place of anger or being nitpicky and that I have no problem with my therapist as a person (I enjoy her company), but that I do need to see results otherwise I'm wasting everyone's time and money. Again I was told immediately that canceling all further appointments was no problem and that was pretty much the end of the conversation. I feel like the person I was talking to (the scheduler, whom should take no personal stake in the quality of treatment provided), was taking it personally or they were just happy to not have my business for whatever reason. I was never rude, I was calm, I asked several times if they thought I was being unreasonable for expecting better results. I patiently asked questions and was not pushy even after they didn't return my call for three days. I even insisted that my therapist not be notified that I wasn't satisfied with her work because I did not want to hurt her feelings. I'm very disappointed and feel I was treated like a "difficult customer". I honestly don't feel like I was asking too much. I posed all my questions carefully and gave them the chance to let me see a different therapist to see if she would be better skilled in the technique I have seen results from previously, but I was denied and that's the end of that. I highly recommend if you have lymphedema and you've been here and not gotten results, do your research on the web, join lymphedema support groups on Facebook, and definitely try another therapist. This condition can be managed but I do not believe Lemmen-Holton has fine-tuned the tools or the training. (They were very nice and accommodating at the beginning however, and the facility is beautiful.)"
"I was there for a non-cancer reason - to have a catheter removed from my neck area that was needed until my fistula for hemodialysis had been successfully used long enough. I already had an old failed fistula in my right arm and the new one is in my left arm. I'm limited in areas for blood pressure cuffs and vein draws/ IV sites. The techs and nurses listened to what I told them and my concerns and were very careful in their procedures. They were finally able to draw enough needed blood for needed tests from my right wrist area but then the vein gave out. They wanted to give me a pain killer injection in my hip but that was a drug I had never had and I react in bad ways to many medications. My other choice was a local injection which one used in my arm when a fistula needed work. I chose the local and the removal had very little pain. The procedure took about 20 minutes and I was released an hour later with instructions for at home care. Everyone was extremely caring and took time to hear what I wanted done. We even got good instructions on where to go and what to do from earlier phone calls and the receptionist area when we arrived. Very pleasant and professional job from all. Thank you."
