"I was admitted 4/9/21 for CoVid after being sent home days before from another hospital. I was there for 39 days and although I don't remember most of it because I was on a vent for 21 of those days. I do know that I am alive today because of the care that I received while admitted to their ICU & CCU. I can not express how thankful I am to the staff at HFMH for the care I received and their continued communication with my family while I was there. GOD Bless You All!"
"I came to the hospital because I was having heart spasms that felt serious and couldn’t breathe due to influenza a turning into pneumonia in my lungs at 9 months pregnant. I called prior to my doctors office and the nurse left a note in the system to have me instantly sent to labor and delivery. When me and my fiancé arrive a md that looks like donna Parton took a moment to ask what brings us in. I tell her I need to go to labor and delivery, I was instructed by my nurse and she left a note in the system. I go on to explain to her and the ladies in the ER nurse desk that I can’t breathe, I am 36 weeks pregnant and pneumonia developed in my lungs from influenza a and my baby hasn’t moved. The lady had brown hair styled in loose curls calls up to labor and delivery and the security guard with orange/red hair who says he’s been there for 20 years is asking what is taking so long and we agreed. She finally says they said this isn’t something for labor and delivery you have to wait to be seen By emergency. This is strange because anytime during pregnancy that I’m not able to breathe and baby not moving that can be checked by labor and delivery. I say it’s fine I will just go to be seen else where. As I get up my croc strap attaches to the wheelchair and I fall stomach first on my baby. A staff member says “ OH NOW SHE WANTS TO FALL” as if I’m falling on purpose. I am crying and bruised. NO ONE RUSHED TO HELP. My fiancé is the only one that helped me up to see if I’m okay. EVEN AFTER FALLING THE ER STAFF DECIDES TO ARGUE WITH MY FIANCÉ INSTEAD OF CHECKING ON ME OR CALLING UP TO LABOR AND DELIVERY TO GET MY BABY CHECKED AFTER FALLING. I asked to go upstairs and asked why they are being so weird. I’ve never experienced this in the many years of going to hfhs. Since then I have spoken with a nurse at Bloomfield she sent in a report, my mother has spoken with a charge nurse and sent it over to nurse management named Amanda who claims she wasn’t there but was very defensive during my complaint. She says that she feels I was being nippicky towards the ER girls and I should be upset with the doctor who rejected me going upstairs. In which I am upset with my overall experience. I feel that I was being discriminated against, I felt unheard and uncared for!! After driving 45 min to a hospital even the staff at the other Henry Ford heard the conversation with AMANDA and said in confidence that she messed up in stating what the protocol is. I was supposed to go upstairs to labor and delivery both times!!! I am truly disappointed and want something to be done so no one else experiences this type of treatment."
"Terrible experience in this hospital. If I could give a lower rating than one, I would. Extremely long wait time. My wife and I waited 12 hours to see someone at the ER. The staffs at the ER waiting area, while kind, were not helpful. The water fountain was out of order so my wife asked for some water, they told her to buy from vending machines nearby, she was having trouble walking from her pain. So this hospital expects people to wait 12 hours in the lobby and not offer basic necessities such as water. I'm not sure if there is a bigger red flag for an organization that we are supposed to trust with our health. If December/January is really the busiest time of the year, then why not adequately prepare for it? Nurses had 6 patients each. Why not get more nurses to prepare for the busy season. Extremely disappointed with the experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I will tell my friends and family members to avoid this place at all cost. Hopefully this will be the last time at this place."
"I was submitted to the hospital on 10/14/23 for lower back pain. Transported by EMT where I was given an IV and pain killers. The nurse at HF introduced herself to me, and then, I was left in the hallway for over 3 hours before anyone checked on me. I was then transferred to a room where the same nurse told me that she left me in the hallway because, "she was eating." I asked for water and waited but did not receive it until 7 hours later. The only time I had water was in a 2 oz cup to take my medication in which it was provided to me from the room sink. I was telling the resident doctor that I still have pain and he responded by saying, "we only have x-ray to offer and nothing else." Later that night he submitted me for a CT Scan. 2-3 days after I was discharged, I began to feel pain in my arm where the IV was initially placed, and then it started to get worse. I called my Physician, and was told that it can be normal irritation due to IV needle. I told him that I'm in so much pain to where I can barely move my arm and I even suggested that it might be a blood clot. Instead of sending to the ER, I was told to wait till the next day for a zoom call to see what's going on with me. It felt like it was not priority. I was seen at the office and they looked at it and still believed that it was an irritation, but I insisted that it was more than just an irritation. Upon my request, I was submitted for an Ultra sound and they gave me an appointment for next day. The results showed 2 blood clots in my arm. The Ultra sound staff informed me that I shouldn't be released and usually, patients with blood clots should be submitted to ER. but this was not the case. The Doctor's office informed the Ultra sound staff to release me and no one suggested me to get dropped off, instead I was let go even though I didn't feel that I was ready. Due to my diagnoses, I temporarily can’t go back to work, and support my family. With 2 blood clots that were caused by ignorance, thank God I'm still alive."
"I go out of my way to come to this ER. sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's not. it's the best care I can get to FAST... I'd rather die than call 911 and end up at Ascension hospital on 12 and Hoover.. unfortunately the closest hospital to me... there is also a Henry Ford hospital in Sterling Heights.. it is slightly closer to me.. Macomb ER for the win #IAMHENRYFORD"
