"The place is very unethical and treats employees as well as the children with such disrespect and negligence. Never work or send your kid here."
"Toured here back in October. The interim director made it very clear she was overwhelmed after the director “up and left. Yes, those were her words. At the end of the tour I asked if I needed to do anything to be put on the waitlist, interim director said no and that she’d contact me in November. She seemed overworked or annoyed at her new duties and obviously had no intention of following up with me."
"I came in to tour this facility. It is a really beautiful facility and I loved the open concept of the rooms. Unfortunately, during my tour the teacher in the classroom behind the front desk was yelling at the kids the whole time. The yelling was beyond what I would describe as normal/acceptable."
"I hate to be that person to write a bad review. I didn't want to write this but it weighs on me every single day. Parents deserve to know personal experiences to assist them in making decisions about childcare. No changes are made if I stay quiet. That being said, my son was enrolled at this daycare back in January 2022. We started him at 4 months old. The facility is great, however, we ignored multiple red flags during our 1 month there. While we had multiple issues with this location, such as unsafe sleep procedures, staffing issues, and tons of "container" toy time. There was one specific incident that was the nail in the coffin. We dropped our son off one morning and on the way home we peaked at the cameras on the app. What we saw is burned into my brain forever. We saw our 4 month old (who couldn't roll yet) face down, on the hard carpet, bright red, alone, not 1 person in the room. We tried to not panic. However, every time I closed and reopened that app the image was the same. After 5 minutes my husband called the center yelling at the director to go get our son. To which she said "oh no he's not on the floor." Finally, she put the phone down and went into the room and a teacher picked him up. To them, and maybe others, we were overreacting, classic first time parent. To me and my husband, the image was horrifying. Our son, in the middle of a room, alone, looked like a doll laying there completely still, bright red, for 5 whole minutes. We picked him up after that incident and he had rug burn on his nose and forehead. The director said the teacher was absent because a parent, who was dropping their child off at that time, was taking longer than the allowable time (due to covid) at the door. And the solution was the director would have a conversation with that parent. The way the blame was pushed on another parent was appalling. The teacher left an infant alone in a room during tummy time for 5+ minutes. That is incompetence. That is not another parent's fault. That day we contacted the corporate office. They were amazing, to be fair. They listened, they were respectful to our concerns, and said they would implement policy changes. These "changes" were in effect for about 3 days and then everything reverted back. We couldn't relax at work after this incident, so we pulled him out. We picked him up one day and never went back, left his sheet, clothes, binkies and all. When we look back it is clear we ignored a few red flags before this. On our 3rd day at drop off the teacher said "who is this?" when we handed our son over. Red flag. Additionally, our son at 4 months old spent 6+ hours of his day in a swing. The fact that we were paying over a thousand dollars a month for a swing is unbelievable in the first place. But he also slept in that swing, which is against the licensing board guidelines, and against safe sleep guidelines. Lastly, I would watch the cameras and see he was in the swing for 6+ hours, while the notifications throughout the day from the teachers would say "read brown bear, brown bear." No book was read. It was clearly a lie. Long story short, do your research on a center, ask questions, and if something seems fishy, it probably is. Like I said, I have gone back and forth on if I should even bother reviewing this location but it truly hurts me to know that this was swept under the rug. Parents deserve to know."
"When my daughter was about 4 weeks old I toured 6 daycares in the area and nothing compared to Gilden Woods! From the moment I walked in I knew I wanted our daughter to be in the care of Gilden Woods. It is a very stressful decision as a first time parent to have to send your child to daycare when it’s time to go back to work. All my stress and fears were put at ease when I met Ms. Morgan. Ms. Morgan is the Infant 1 teacher and I knew right away I wanted our daughter in her care. Ms. Morgan is so down to earth and just loves her infants so much! Half way through Olivia’s time in Infant 1, Ms. Sue became an additional Infant 1 teacher. Ms. Sue is just as fantastic. Our daughter had a huge smile every time she saw Ms. Sue. During her time in Infant 1 our daughter mastered so many skills and the art projects she brought home made my heart melt! Our daughter is now in Infant 2 and the care is just as phenomenal as the last class. Ms. Miranda, Ms. Shayla, and Ms. Sara. The teachers are really good at posting fun comments about how her day is! I check the portal each day for the update. Some of them make me laugh! Olivia comes home with new skills that I’ve never seen before and I know it’s because she gets great interaction with the teachers and other students. Some other things we love about Gilden Woods: 1. The whole staff is great! From the center directors to the assistants! They are very accommodating. 2. The center has cameras in each room. So you can check up on your little ones. 3. The cribs for the infants are in a separate area and not out in the open like most daycares. This was a huge seller for me. I just think it’s weird that the cribs would be out in the open. 4. The events the center puts on are really fun. Our daughter is too young to really get into the events but we did take her to the Valentine Party. I cant wait till our daughter is older and can enjoy the events. Gilden Woods is a great choice!"
