"I’ve rented from this place quite a few times, sometimes an okay experience but lately not so much. I rented a chainsaw once that was very dull rendering it useless, no compensation for that although it made my job much more difficult having to use the much smaller saw that I own personally to do the job. Another time I rent a manure spreader from them, only to get it home and notice that half of the kickers in the rear were broken causing it to clog up every 5-10 minutes of operation. The last straw with them was over the rental of a skid steer that I had rented for a week, but only got ~2 days worth of work out of due to it misfiring and not running correctly, rendering the attachment that I paid an extra $400 for useless as well. Their fix? Knock $200 off of the $1700 bill. Lol. So they wasted my money and my time with the hassle of the issues, rather than just exchange the loader for one that works correctly (as is common with other rental companies I use). After this incident I’ve ran into a few others who have had similar dealings with this company. Very greedy people in my opinion, I will no longer be using them after seeing how they treat their loyal customers."

"Didn’t have a great experience here. They sold me a mower that didn’t work for my situation. I described that I had some steep terrain, but they still sold me a mower that couldn’t climb the slightest hill. No effort on customer service. Just trying to sell product. They did allow me to return it but the refund process was a bit of a hassle. Simply didn’t get the impression that customer satisfaction is towards the top of the list."

"I do not rent a lot of equipment in my personal life, but when I do, I have used Holmes rental because of the friendly staff, good service and good products. In my work life, I rent a considerable amount of equipment, so I am very familiar with construction rental equipment, including the brand I rented from Holmes Rental. I recently rented a boom lift for the weekend to trim some trees in the yard and first off, I could not use it Saturday due to high winds. The next day I ran into an issue with a function on the unit first thing and was not able to use it again. I called immediately when we experienced the problem and did not get a return call due to no after hours service line. Now I have not accomplished any work that the equipment was rented for. I could not return the unit due to the issue I was having as well. I called first thing the next day (Monday) to inform them of the issue so they could send out a mechanic and pick the unit up. I never received a follow up call to give me any feedback after they looked at the unit, I had to call them. When I called, I was told there was nothing wrong with it, it was a user error and I would be charged the full rental and no credit would be given. It was obvious that I didn't get to use the equipment by reading the run meter. The only run time was trying to get it to work properly. This is very unfortunate, because I thought they were good and fair to their customers. At the least, I had hoped for some credit towards renting it another time. They have lost a customer. I will not rent from them again."

"Very good sales. To bad when a mower needs warranty work they want 70 to pick up 70 to drop off. I can see a few bucks but 140 for a manufacturer defect. 5500 ferris mower with less than 3 hrs."
