"Not only did Rescue Rooter come in without permission when we weren’t home or did we have any maintenance request for our apartment which traumatized us of a break in, but they left the bathroom a broken mess without any notice. All drawers were left open, spewing goop everywhere, personal bathroom mats looked like they were used to attempt the cleanup which was just left there waiting for us? Scared us of a break in until we did our own discovery that the neighbors had a drainage request at the same date & time of this occurrence. ~$350 worth of products, medicine, belongings just ruined. Who does this?!?! 0/5"
"The folks at ARS were phenomenal!! From the moment they fielded my call to the time the technicians left they were professional and accommodating keeping me in the loop and explaining everything they were doing. They also recommended a few things to ensure no issues down the road. I will highly recommend them to family and friends as well as any future needs for myself."
"I was at my wits end looking for a Plumber to address a backed up drain. I found ARS Rescue Rooter on a google search and gave them a call. Their availability for a Plumber to come onsite was within the hour of my call! About 15 minutes later I received a call stating the tech was in route; I really appreciated the immediate response and open availability. I worked with Joe, who was more than patient with my millions of questions. As he worked to clear the block, he did an excellent job explaining how the drain system works and what he was doing to remedy the issue. He gave me great tips on prevention and annual maintenance service. Overall, this was a great experience and I will definitely call them again."
"Our water heater stopped working on Christmas Eve so I called Lowe's to find out about installation. Lowe's took my info and said the folks who handle the installation would call me back, most likely in a day or two after Christmas. Sounded reasonable to me. Less than five minutes later, Mario from ARS / Rescue Rooter Cleveland called me. He told me that he could have someone at my house that day between 12pm-3pm for an estimate. I was extremely surprised they had someone available on Christmas Eve but I had a 3.5 hour drive to family for Christmas ahead of me and I had planned to leave earlier. After consulting with my partner, we decided that we could leave later so that ARS could come and give us an estimate. After accepting the time with Mario, I got an email that said the window of time was 12pm-4pm (instead of the 12pm-3pm he told me on the phone). When 4pm rolled around, we left. No one came. No once called. And we left hours later than we had planned to and had less time with our family on Christmas with nothing to show for it. They called twice two days later leaving messages asking if we we still looking for someone to do the install. I will not be calling them back. I reached out to other contractors and found one. We will be paying a different contractor $750 to do the install."
"Outrageous pricing, deceptive sales tactics and poor installation. Look elsewhere, and always get multiple quotes. My experience with ARS / Rescue Rooter: Our hot water tank was leaking, so I went to Lowe's and found a replacement A.O. Smith unit. I did not have any free weekends coming up to tackle the install myself, so I went home and filled out the online form to start the process of having it installed by a "Lowe's Certified Installer" (naively thinking this meant they were vetted and monitored by Lowe's for ethical business practices). ARS / Rescue Rooter (the Lowe's installer) promptly sent out a representative to my house to quote the project. He quoted $3,809 (from a pre-printed, laminated "one size fits all" price guide) for a 50 gallon water heater in "tall configuration" (important later), new expansion tank, and 4-6 hours of labor for installation. This price also included pulling a permit "if necessary"(?), and haul away of the old unit. My water heater is in an unfinished walk-out basement, and the heater has unobstructed access on every side. The house is only 18 years old, so the pipes and valves are all modern and up to code. In other words, there was nothing challenging or unusual at all about my installation. So, I thought 4-6 hours of labor seemed excessive. But, I had a leaking tank and needed it replaced, so I reluctantly agreed, thinking maybe the job is more complex than it seemed on the surface. Nope. The installer came the next day and was in and out in exactly 1 hour. When I got home from work, I inspected the job and found that they had installed a 50 gallon "short configuration" water heater (fine, but it retails at $200 less than the unit we discussed during the quote). Also, the PVC vent pipe and gas line were hastily just tweaked crooked to get them into the new heater rather than modifying and adapting the pipes properly. Within one week of installation, the PVC vent pipe had popped off of the powervent blower due to the poor alignment of the piping, requiring a service visit. This time they extended the pipe for a better fit. So here is what I got for $3,809: Water Heater ($1,299 Lowe's retail price) Expansion Tank (~$50) Copper Water Pipe & Fittings (~$50) Tax on Parts (~$94) = $1,493 Parts Total That means I paid $2,316 for 1 hour of labor, permit*, and haul away of old unit. *ARS / Rescue Rooter did pull a permit with my city...almost 5 weeks after the job was completed (I don't think that is how it's supposed to work). This resulted in me having to take off work for the 4th time for this project to be home for the final inspection. I did call ARS / Rescue Rooter to give them a chance to adjust the cost of my project before writing this review. They refused to budge on their price. They are obviously exploiting their position as a "Certified Lowe's Installer" and will milk this cash cow for as long as they can get away with it. I will share my experience with Lowe's customer service as well. I really only have myself to blame. Don't make the same mistake I did. When these big name companies come to your home to quote a project, just take the time to do some simple math to determine if they are price gouging you, and don't be afraid to say "No Thank You"."
