"The Madonna of the Trail in Richmond, Indiana is in Glen Miller Park on the corner of Main Street and 22nd Street. It’s still in its original location – and the significance of this is it’s the location of the first toll gate in Indiana. Pretty cool right? You can explore the park after you check out the monument."
"Beautiful sculpture- Madonna of the Trail"
"Richmond is a beautiful town to visit. Lots of history there. Beautiful park Glenn Miller and an arboretum worth the drive. Visit Earlham College campus it's lovely. Shopping and restaurants. Especially enjoyed The Richmond Inn their food and atmosphere was so good."
"As a Catholic person, the term Madonna has a very specific definition. This is not it. Kansas City, my home town has a Pioneer Mother statue. I have never confused that statue for Jesus Christ's mother. I guess I was expecting the Virgin Mary or a certain pop sensation from Detroit. That said, beautiful statue."
"Obviously I am far too Catholic as I was excited to come here today and commune with the Madonna. First, I thought how sweet it was for there to be a representation of the Holy Mother as a pioneer. Then I wondered who the second child in the statue was. Finally, it dawned on me that there is a difference between a madonna and the Madonna."
