"I’ve lived at town place for the past year. For a first apartment it’s not bad, and it’s very cheap. But you get what you pay for. The hallways, elevators, and stairways always smell terribly of something you just can’t pinpoint. Penny, the manager, was definitely not fun to deal with. She seemed nice at first, but she constantly ignored/dodged my calls, and never called me back. When I approached her in person she was EXTREMELY standoffish and rude. Didn’t give me a copy of my rental agreement when I moved in and when I eventually asked for one, she was nasty about it. Every time I’ve had to interact to her has been very stressful and just generally dreadful because of how rude she is. At one point due to corona, I lost a lot of hours and nearly got laid off at my job and the landlord told me that I could just pay as much of that months rent as possible, and I didn’t have to worry about the rest. I felt relieved, I payed about 3/4 of it, which was everything I had, only until a few days later when I got a call from her threatening to evict me in three days if I didn’t pay the rest immediately. Extremely messed up in my opinion. They also CLAIM to have a working buzzer system, but mind you, they do not(or did not when I was there). There are a lot of older people living in town place, and there was a time when an older woman fell in her apartment and couldn’t buzz her son up to come help her because their buzzers don’t work, despite the fact that they advertise them in their rental ads. Overall, I’d say don’t go looking for an apartment here unless you absolutely have to. Literally anywhere else would be better than this place. They don’t care about their tenants and I cannot stress enough how rude, and scammy penny is. PS, Ive noticed a lot of the responses to these bad reviews include something along the lines of town place claiming the writer “didn’t live there”, so if any one needs it I’ve got proof of all of this. Rental agreements, pics of rotting food And dog feces in the stairways, and nasty letters from penny herself."
