The Current

"We’ve been residents at the Current 2 complex for over a year, and just resigned for another! The apartment complex has a lot of wonderful perks for younger renters like ourselves. This being said they would have received a much higher rating from us before management was switched over. Pro: The location is perfect (about 8 minutes from downtown Madison), has quick access to major roads, and is perfect for those that enjoy a healthy mix of nature and night life. We love being able to walk our pup, paddle on the lake and have a nice dinner within walking distance. Heated underground parking included in rent is also a huge bonus. Maintenance team is AMAZING and makes sure the tenants are taken care of. Con: The Current is marketed (and priced) as a luxury complex. While this shows through in the newer appliances and amenities, management can be less than ideal at times (ex. losing our pet information on 3 separate occasions). In addition, it is a little tacky to pay tenants to boost reviews and charge them to use what it marketed as “included amenities” (ex. it is $100/day to use the community room if you want it reserved). Bottom line: We resigned because we love the community, location, maintenance team and our neighbors. Management can be cumbersome at times, but this has slowly been improving. Updates (11/5/2023): Included examples for above concerns so future tenants have clarity. Management also appears to have been recently taken over by a different individual. Several efforts have been made to correct errors, clarify information, and build community within the complex. Due to these amendments, we have added an additional star to the rating."

"I've lived at The Current for 4 years now and have had an overall positive experience. I would give it 4.5 stars because of the drastic rent increases and the fact that I can hear my current upstairs neighbor frequently, but I rounded up to 5 stars because unfortunately that's the market for rent in Madison currently and the first 2 years I did not hear my upstairs neighbor at all, so I don't think that's every apartment. I personally love the location with the bike path, local parks, and local businesses within easy walking distance. My 1-bedroom is modern and spacious. Overall I have enjoyed living at The Current."

"I love living at the Current. When friends visit they often comment on how nice everything is and how you can’t hear neighbor noises which is nice. The apartment and amenities are up to date and useful. Maintenance is quick and very kind - I’m a big fan of that! I love living here for so many reasons. One of the best is the fact that you can walk right outside and get to the river. This is ideal if you like paddling. Every day is a good day here."

"I personally loved my experience at The Current! A year ago my rating probably would’ve been five stars but the quality of the apartment based on the price & management has gone down a bit in the last year or so. Pros: Modern apartments with new appliances, very open design & very light, which I love. All the amenities you could want are here. Maintenance is very nice and helpful. Great location. Cons: The price went up a lot this last year to “match market prices” but the quality of the apartments seems to go down. It can be noisy on either side with the parking lot and river activities. The new leasing management has been a little rude to me in a few encounters. Overall a good place, just depends on what is important to you!"

"I live in the Current 2 and it is my favorite apartment complex I have lived in! I use the amenities almost daily. The pool and court yard area is very nice and has everything you would need. The gym is great, there are lots of nice common spaces and it is super pet friendly, with a dog park included. There is a common area you can even reserve for events which is convenient. I like being able to use my phone to access areas and having a keyless entry. Apartments are modern and appliances are nice. Maintenance is always friendly and responsive to your needs. The surrounding area has a lot to do within walking distance for entertainment and fun. It is also a short drive to downtown Madison. Recommend if you're looking for a place with these features!"
