"I travel 40 minutes to have my hair done by Toni. I could have my hair done at the salon I work at for free. I Also should add that I am Caucasian going to a predominantly black salon. No one cuts hair like Toni! Her skill is indescribable. Getting my hair platinum isn't always easy, but I walk out of that salon with it perfect everytime."
"I have been a customer every 2 weeks for over 20 years. The service has been excellent. This has been the best stylist I have ever had. She is always punctual and does not cancel on me. It’s almost like you are with family. I actually look forward to my appointment every 2 weeks and my hair is on point when I leave. 2 thumbs up."
"The professionalism at Urban Hair Retreat is impeccable as well as the Stylist herself! I drive from Canton weekly to experience a flawless hairstyle on every visit. It’s truly a VIBE in the salon that you will undoubtedly be truly satisfied with. Toni is beautiful inside and out and is definitely operating in her GIFT from God."
"My year-long experience with this hairstylist was disappointing. Although my hair looked good on the surface but that was very short lived as soon as the products washed off my hair felt horrible and was falling out in clumps. First and foremost, the issue of over-processing hair with relaxers was a cause for concern. Her recommendation of a relaxer treatment every 6-8 weeks, though well-intentioned, often resulted in overlapping on previously processed hair. This unfortunate overlap led to problems like hair feeling gummy and fragile when wet, and noticeable breakage after drying. I was never told about protein treatments to counteract these issues, leaving my hair damaged. Another aspect that left me somewhat frustrated was punctuality. There were numerous instances where I found myself waiting for extended periods—20 to 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. This frustration was exacerbated by the of a late policy of 20 minutes or an appointment is cancelled for clients, which felt frustrating given her frequent tardiness. Additionally, there was the matter of the undisclosed "thick hair" charge. My hair, while not exceptionally long, possesses a natural thickness due to its 4c texture. However, it remained unclear how this "thick hair" charge was determined, and there was a lack of transparency regarding this particular aspect of pricing. Edit: since hair isn’t my speciality and I wasn’t provided education I’d like to clarify I have 4c hair and corse texture. I don’t believe I have high density hair or otherwise known as thick hair. So there could’ve been clarification on how your determining “thickness”. If client education is your speciality you could’ve communicated how that was determined and let me know instead of me seeing that charge on the bill afterwards. While it's important to note that my experience wasn't entirely negative, I believe there is ample room for improvement in terms of professionalism, education on proper hair care, and transparency in pricing. Since moving on from this hairstylist, I've seen noticeable improvements in my hair's condition. My current stylist ensures informed consent before initiating any treatment, provides comprehensive education about potential risks, and equips me with the knowledge to manage any issues or concerns effectively. This contrast highlights the importance of finding a hairstylist who prioritizes both the health of your hair and your overall satisfaction. I would also like to add that addressing feedback professionally and openly without becoming defensive is an important aspect of providing excellent customer service. Every client’s experience can be unique, and I hope my feedback can contribute to your ongoing efforts to improve your service. I wish you continued success in your salon, and I’m glad to hear that you prioritize education and client care."
"I have microlocs and went in for a shampoo before my retightening appointment the following day. Toni was great and even did a steam treatment and lined up my nape which is super hairy. Satisfied with the experience overall. Very nice and the music was on point!"
