Felix Quist MD

"My experience with Dr. Felix Quist started when my son, whom was 5 weeks early, had to go to the NICU, because his lungs were just slightly underdeveloped. We stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. I had left the hospital 2 times, in my 3 week stay. The first time leaving the hospital, was to go and make sure our room, and the baby's space, was ready for him to come home. I was a wreck, because it was my first time leaving my son in the hospital, by himself/with nurses, who were great, but were still strangers. I believe Dr. Quist was waiting until we left the hospital, to call, and tell me that there was an open CPS(child protective services) case, on me and my son. In the first or second month of my pregnancy, I had tested positive for marijuana. I used, 2-3 weeks before I found out I was expecting. It's mandatory, in Indiana, for CPS to be contacted if a pregnant lady is positive for any kind of drug use, so none of it was surprising to me. Dr. Quist was the person who told us about the case. Quist told me over a phone call, while I was away from my child, for the first time since he had been born. On top of telling me that the case was open, he had also told me that my child had been shaking, and that he was concerned that he was withdrawing from something, because of the shaking. I had seen Quist, at least once a day, because he was my baby's doctor, and he came in to check of him, on a bidaily basis, at least, so he could have told me in person, that the case was open. I was freaking out, because I wasn't there, and supposedly my child was shaking, enough to draw suspicion for him withdrawing. It was truly scary for me. While I was pregnant, I wouldn't even take allergy pills, let alone any sort of other drugs or medications, so I knew for a fact, there was absolutely no way that he was withdrawing from anything; making me think that my child was shaking for unknown reasons. It was such a horrific moment, I wasn't next to my baby, I couldn't see how he was shaking. I had never seen him shake before, and I was scared he was having seizures, or something like that. I rushed back to the hospital, ask fast as I could, thinking that my child was having a some sort of severe medical crisis. When I finally got back to the hospital, I went straight to my child. I had the nurses call Quist into the room, so we could talk about the shaking, and what could have been causing the shaking. When he got to the room, and I asked what the shaking could have possibly been. He was hesitant, making me think something was seriously wrong. But then, Quist says something like "it wasn't serious shaking, more of a leg twitch." I'm like "what? You said he was shaking, so much that you're questioning me, on whether or not he's withdrawing." Quist then downplayed the shaking, completely. I hadn't seen him shake, at all. Nothing. Not even a twitch. I was so angry. Over the phone, I'm assuming, he was trying to get me to admit to using some kind of substance, for the CPS case. He had lied to me about the shakiness of my child, and scared the heck out of me. I respect CPS; they do alot for children, whose parents do hard drugs(which are a serious problem, here in Indiana, with our opioid epidemic an all) or any drugs. But I do not respect Dr. Felix Quist, because he lied about the condition of my baby, telling me he was shaking, (over the phone) while I was away from my baby for the first time, ever."
