Reviews
"This review is for the Altenheim Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. The place is visually appealing. Rooms are spacious and private with large flat screen TVs. It is a beautiful facility. The Physical Therapy team is wonderful. The majority of the nursing staff is kind and compassionate. There were a couple of aides who let people sit on the toilet and in their own urine for up to an hour because they were too busy during meal times to assist. My family member was yelled at for pushing the help button during this time. However, most would come as soon as possible, even during meals. This facility is not equipped to help if your loved one has other health conditions or needs to be closely monitored. I would only recommend Altenheim if you ONLY need physical therapy. Like many places, Altenheim administration mainly cares about money and their ratings. Proceed with caution if you choose this facility."
"The staff is rude and one hand does not know what the other is doing. So much lack of communication with family. Patients go home worse than when they went in there. Disgusting."
"Do not send your loved ones to this facility until they get adequate staffing. The staff appear to be nice, and there was only 1 occasion where an aid snapped at my mother, saying she was not the only patient that needed care. The things my mother had to endure are: More often that not, had to wait at least an hour after pushing the call button before she got help. On one occasion, while I was there, we waited 1 1/2 hours for help and had to go in search for someone. On another occasion, myself and 2 others who were visiting their families were walking the halls looking for anyone to help. Several room call light buttons were on up and down the hall but no one was around. It was like a ghost town. After being put on a bed pan, she was left on it well over an hour before being take off of it. She was put in a chair at around 1 am and left there until 7 am. She told an aid she was in pain, and the aid was supposed to tell nurse but didn't. She was left in pain all night, even after repeatedly pressing the call button. On one occasion, bathing was so rough, my mother was bleeding. On another occasion, she had to repeated yell as loud as she could until the director of nursing came to see what was wrong. My mother started retaining fluid and was having trouble breathing. When I asked about sending her back to the hospital, I was urged to not send her back. I sent her anyway and found out she had Congestive Heart Failure, not pneumonia as they had diagnosed. I have no doubt my mother would not be here today if I had listened to their director of nursing. After being released from the hospital, my mother and I agreed that she would go back to Altenheim to give them another chance. The care did not get any better the second time around, even though I yelled at a staff member and threatened to have them investigated. If they had family there as patients, I bet they would get great care. My mother started retaining fluid again, and when I requested she be sent back to the hospital, the staff member said she had to ask the nurse practitioner. I abrasively told her the nurse practitioner does not decide whether or not my mother goes back to the hospital and to arrange for a transport. My mother will not be going back there. It's a shame because most of the staff are very nice, the food is great, and my mother has no complaints about the therapy she was receiving. There are not enough aids to care for all of the patients and this results in neglect. When will they wake up? After a patient dies in their care?"
"My father is a client of this neglectful institution, he sustained a broken hip and has to undergo a month to six weeks of physical therapy. The staff spends a half hour a day with him, they are anything but pleasant over the phone, and now the insurance doesnt want to reimburse this facility. Dont bring your love ones here,,,, z the beautiful facility is a cooler. By not being able to visit the neglectful and poorly trained staff can get away with murder"
"My Mother was brought to this facility on Wednesday, so understaffed ! Physical therapy never came in the first day Next day they did my mom was soiled on the backside Putting her back into the bed that way. I called 911 to get my mom out Blood pressure was so low, she had Ceta an infection that they would have never caught Staffing was RUDE ! Never checked on my mom at all"
