"Dr. Merling is wonderful. Unfortunately the older lady with the glasses in the front office is far from that. My daughter has been going here since birth and everyone has always been so kind. This newer lady you can tell absolutely hates her job. After having to deal with her on a few occasions we decided to ask for release papers. Again she wasn’t the nicest to deal with. We received a letter in the mail from Wilmington pediatrics that we assumed was our release papers but it was a letter informing US that THEY had decided to terminate the patient-relationship due to behavior!!! It’s sad that we had to come down to this after 8 years of being seen here."
"Completely disappointed in the office staff at this practice. My son came to us through adoption and in his life not a single person has asked for an adoption decree. I was asked for this information and upon asking them why they needed it, they said "we want to make sure you are legally ABLE to take care of him and you noted that he was adopted on the medical history form". Mind you, I did not have to tell them that, but was being honest. The staff was very offensive when I started questioning their motives. The adoption is closed and is none of anyone's business who the birth parents are, given they are local. I asked if a birth certificate would suffice, as my name is on there. They initially told me no and continued to ask for the decree. I then asked what legal documents they were asking for every child that comes into the practice as they singled my son out for the way he came into the world. I asked if they needed birth certificates for the other two children and the response was "well, are they adopted?". That's no ones business, whatso ever. I could not believe the amount of unprofessionalism that we encountered. It wasn't even his appointment that we were in there for and the way they went about talking to me was disrespectful and dishonest. Upon leaving the practice, we were told they didn't need to ask those questions as we do have insurance on him in our name, which is proof enough? None of it made sense. On top of that, when we were getting our 8 month old shots, they couldn't figure out which shot he needed, although we had been in there just 2 weeks prior. We were asked more than 5 times if we were sure we hadn't just gave him shots a few days before that and in the state of Kentucky?? Super unorganized and they do not trust the parents, apparently. We were made to wait 30 minutes longer while they figured out shot records, even though we were told they were getting the room ready 15 minutes prior to that. They also messed up on our daughter's sports physical. Not only making her wait 45 minutes in a room by herself, but didn't even give her the right paperwork to begin with. We had to come all the way back into town to get the correct paperwork. When confronted, they said they gave the right paperwork to the medical assistant and they weren't sure why that wasn't filled out. My husband was made to wait an additional 45 minutes to get the right paperwork even though we had just been in there. It was a complete waste of time and energy. The practice should have a lawsuit against them for many reasons with our visit. They will cross lines that are not meant to be crossed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and I suggest, if you have a blended family or have adopted or are fostering, that you stay away from this practice."
"Office staff is completely unorganized and asks inappropriate questions. We had 3 children seeing them and in one visit with all 3, they messed every single one of them up. Shot records, sports physical, and legalities. Adoption isn't a means to exclude my child and the way they went about that is absurd. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Beware of your child's shot record organization. Our son had vaccines in there from a completely different state and he were asked at least 10 times if we were sure we didn't go to Kentucky to get him vaccinated? And if we had been there to get the vaccines? Shouldnt they know that? Wow. A sports physical took an hour of waiting and when leaving the wrong paperwork was handed to us, which required us to return all the way back to get the correct paperwork. That alone took an additional hour. A waste of time when the office could have been a bit more organized. Not impressed."
"Super friendly staff. Went here when I was a kid. Now my kids do. Couldn't imagine taking them anywhere else."
