"Good clean rooms. Very modern atmosphere, also has good amenities at a reasonable price. Right next to Oberlin college and downtown Oberlin."
"Rooms are just fine, if double the price they should be. Location is the thing, though."
"Great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Helped us out as our plane had an issue and we got stuck overnight. MRK Aviation and the Oberlin have a great relationship. Highly recommend."
"We stayed at The Hotel for a quick transit visit, and as others have mentioned, it's a beautiful facility with wonderful service. I like the focus on energy efficiency, and the meal we had at 1833 was good. However, I can only give three stars to this hotel because in their quest for high design and neat features, they've neglected some guest comfort basics which to me are essential, especially at this price point. In our case, we checked into the hotel after a long drive and I needed a hot shower to relax and a comfortable chair to sit in to do some work and catch up on email. Unfortunately, in this room I got neither. The shower is beautifully designed with a glass half-wall, but it's a HALF wall with no shower door/curtain to prevent water from splashing on the (tile) floor or to keep in the shower heat so I took a shower that was basically lukewarm and didn't work out the road kinks. Similarly, the chairs in the room are attractive to look at but SUUUUUUCK to sit in. Ironically, the least comfortable of the two is the desk chair, so the room isn't even conducive to doing work comfortably. The seating alone would keep me from staying at The Hotel for more than one night, especially if this were solely a work trip. Similar issue at 1833 with respect to guest comfort - the food was excellent and service was friendly but staff were slow and inattentive. I totally get that it's summer in Oberlin and it's likely a lot of their staff are gone for the summer so this isn't such a big deal, but like our experience with the comfort of the room, we came away feeling like as guests we were secondary."
"The restaurant was great. The food was really, really good, and the service on point. It was a nice change of pace from standard hotel restaurants. The hotel was nice. I've stayed in some extraordinary hotels in this price range and the hotel itself didn't quite hit that mark for me. Staff was super enthusiastic and friendly. Shower was great and the rest was fine. The negative part is how loud it is when people come and go from other rooms, and the noise level from tye halls. I think you notice it more because there is no fan that runs and as a person that needs a fan for noise at night, I didn't sleep well."
