"I bought the Giant Defy 2 months ago and have gotten super care since then. Brought it in today for adjustment of handlebar - fortunately they could work me in, now "fits" me optimally and runs great!. Derek and his team give excellent service and value. I'm definitely coming back and will refer anyone to this shop. They are great!!"
"Visiting from Grand Bahama to pick up some bike gear. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Would recommend for all your cycling needs"
"From start to finish, the experience was smooth, professional and welcoming. The entire staff is very knowledgable and helped me navigate the road of finding the perfect bike for me, based on my personal needs. I purchased a new Giant ROAM and absolutely love it! They also have, on-hand, any and all accessories one may want. I even purchased a bike rack for my SUV there. I will be returning for service and any future purchases of accessories and/or bike upgrades in the future."
"AVOID DOWNTOWN BICYCLES! Downtown Bicycles is the WORST shop I have ever encountered and have multiple visits to back up my experience. My gears were clicking so I went in and their mechanic told me I needed to service a list of items – cables/housings, new tape and several other items to be able to make the adjustments. Per the attached photo of the receipts, they quoted me $253 and collected it UP FRONT, which I’ve NEVER seen before, but I complied. So, when I go to pick it up, they informed me they performed an ADDITIONAL $92 of work, WITHOUT INFORMING ME TO GET AUTHORIZATION FIRST. I have NEVER had a bike shop (or anywhere) go ahead and perform extra charges and not inform me so I could elect it. So, I owe an additional $92 for a total of $345.50 -- overpriced for the work being done based on the fact that I maintain my bike every year and know what it generally costs, but I paid and moved on. Until the very first turn of the pedals of my next ride, the bike immediately continued to click in the gears. So, I took the bike back to Downtown & the mechanic now tells me to REALLY fix the clicking I need several MORE items fixed, including now the rear cabling and housings, bottom bracket/bearings – overhauling the HUB, etc. etc. HOW ON EARTH WITH ALL THIS WORK DID THE MECHANIC NOT REALIZE IT NEEDED ALL THIS ADDITIONAL WORK THE FIRST TIME? The charge for this next phase of overhaul was to be another $241, per the receipt. I was PISSED he added ALL of this on and was already feeling like I was being taken advantage of. I told them no, started to drive home with my bike, but realized with my very busy job and so little personal time I’d better just get it done, so like a sucker I went back and PRE-PAID the $241. A few days later my wife goes back and on top of the total of $586 I’ve already paid on a bike, NOW THEY TELL HER THEY WENT AHEAD AND PERFORMED AN ADDITIONAL $25 more, WITHOUT CALLING ME TO AUTHORIZE IT, that she now had to pay them more. So now we’re at a total of $610. The best part? My wife brings the bike home, I take it out again, AND IT’S STILL CLICKING AND – GET THIS – I CAN’T SHIFT MY FRONT GEARS! They have been completely immobilized so the hand shifter won’t work. THESE GENIUSES ACTUALLY DID MORE DAMAGE THAN GOOD AFTER $610! I wish I could post video on here - The mechanic first tells me confidently the handlebar shifter is broken, even when it worked without issue before I brought it in. But there’s more. I got a text from the mechanic with the text saying the bike was ready that in addition to the $610, I also needed a fully new gearset, for which they charge $290 PLUS LABOR. So now the total bill would be about $1,000! Before writing this review, I just called another bike shop that quoted me $50 for the Shimano 105 cassette, $43 for chain, and $40-50 for labor, not Downtown’s quoted $290 plus labor – less than half the price). Took the bike back in, this time video recording (sadly Google won't allow vids - these are screen grabs of them). The mechanic now tells me the gear shift materials are worn out and it needs a new shifter, but then he takes the bike in the back for 5 minutes and in an act of utter comedy tells me “SOMEONE’S BEEN MESSING WITH YOUR BIKE, MAN. SOMEBODY DOESN’T LIKE YOU. YOU SEE THESE TWO SCREWS DEEP DOWN IN YOUR GEARS? SOMEBODY TIGHTENED THEM BOTH DOWN.” I told him the bike had been in my care, locked in my apartment every moment since the last time HE serviced my bike, so the person who doesn’t like me must be him. So clearly what’s really going on here is the mechanic is incompetent, finds something new to blame every time I go in, and is so unfathomably clueless that he doesn’t realize how dishonest he sounds after telling me it’s a broken shifter after his spending so much time and money working on the bike, that in reality, this time someone is intentionally sabotaging my bike, WHEN I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE SINCE I KEEP MY BIKE LOCKED IN MY APARTMENT.”"
"Outstanding bicycle service! Brought in two Cannondale bikes to get fully tuned and cleaned up on Nov 12 2022 and 3 days later they came out looking like we picked them up brand new from the showroom. They even adjusted what was apparently a slightly warped wheel on my bike. The bikes ride just perfectly and look fantastic! Great service and a great price compared to other area stores I called. Highly recommend."
