"My wife and I did the Cumberland Island Kayak excursion. Super fun and a great time. We enjoyed the three other people that joined us. Will was our guide. He took great pics and knew his facts and history, especially all the bird species. We were thrilled to see the wild horses right on the beach and the dolphin pod as we left the marina. Next time we want to do the Egan’s Creek excursion and will request Will as our guide."

"My family and I were visiting for Columbus day weekend and we called last minute on a Sunday night, they had openings and we were able to get in the next morning. We arrived 15 min early and they already had all the kayaks in the water and were ready to go. They took the time out to teach the kids some tips before we pushed off. This 2 hour route was gorgeous If you want a peaceful relaxing trip. With 3 amateur teenagers we still made it to the tracks and back in our 2 hr window. The weather was perfect. We couldn't haven asked for a better last minute kayaking adventure. Thank you to the staff here for an amazing trip. 2 hr trip, no hassle of loading and unloading kayaks and we got a steal of a deal at 100$ for 5 of us. 2 double kayaks and a single."

We all had a great time. The price is very reasonable and the owner, Shari, is very helpful. She took us to a lovely little area to kayak, very peaceful. "Sanctuary Inn and Retreat is perfect for the quirky traveler seeking a peaceful place to stay while exploring Amelia Island and JAX. The Retreat is located in private home with a dock that overlooks a breathtaking estuary. The neighborhood has gated access and features quiet paved roads – perfect for walks and bike rides under trees hung with Spanish moss. The owner's sweet Labs were also great substitutes for the pooch I was missing back at home. You can't get those kinds of experiences at a chain hotel. Sanctuary Retreat is not sanitized. It's a work in progress. It's not perfect, but it's homey. I loved the California king bed, loved the Netflix, loved the treats that Shari baked, and loved, loved, loved the sound-proofing between the guest quarters and the rest of the house. I like my privacy. At the same time, in a "what-the-heck" mood, I accepted the owner's invitation to have a free psychic reading. I am glad I did. The experience was moving, eye-opening and beautifully handled. I feel grateful for choosing Sanctuary Retreat, quirks and all. I'd return in a heartbeat."
