"Today I had my first private free-diving session with Dave! I’ve never done any free-diving before my experience today and was feeling a bit intimidated but ended up being blown away at how kind, helpful, empathetic, encouraging, and motivating Dave was as an instructor. I had an interest in free-diving to improve my breath work practice and as a way to mentally challenge myself. He starts the experience with a quick nature walk to get to know his student, and what your personal needs and expectations are. Dave tailored our session to my personal needs and assisted me with a lot of breathing exercises, adjusting my mindset, and equalization practice before even entering the water. I rented equipment from him (you don’t need any of your own to get started!) and he did an excellent job coaching me for several hours in one of Florida’s most beautiful pristine natural springs. He’s very knowledgeable of all the local springs and will make sure to take you to the best spot! We had some observers while we were diving and someone who was a free diver himself even made a point to comment on what a fantastic instructor Dave was after watching him coach me. If you’ve ever wanted to try free-diving, Dave is definitely your guy, you will NOT regret working with him! He has an affordable hourly rate to coach you one on one and also offers classes, tours, and springs expeditions. He has diverse knowledge in mushroom foraging, fossil hunting, wildlife spotting, in addition to free-diving and paddle boarding so if you have any mixed interests he can customize an experience just for you which will without a doubt be a very unique and special adventure. He’s the kind of guy that you meet up with to coach you but leave feeling like he’s your new best friend in addition to being an excellent instructor. I initially signed up for only a day’s session just to try it out and not knowing if I would even enjoy it or ever want to free-dive again - but after today I know for sure I want to continue training with Dave.
