Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Pompano Beach Central

"Update from a previous review. We have been coming to this location for the past 5 years but the last 2 years it has deteriorated and does not maintain the same standard it once held. Few issues I can name from the top of my head: 1) Bathroom lock not working brought this to the attention of the front desk who said they would send someone to fix it the next day-this never happened 2) Bug in the washroom brought this to the attention of the front desk as well who said they will take care of it and send someone up within the hour-this never happened either with no follow up on either issue 3) Firepit in swimming area not working, again the front desk said that they would turn it on but then said it needed to be repaired and hasn’t been working for a while 4) Cleans were supposed to be done every other day this didn’t happen either the one day the cleaners were supposed to show up (we had to call down in the morning to confirm-which they confirmed) but when we came back later that nite after 6 pm it was not done. When we called the front desk and asked them they sent someone up. During this time we were in the pool area with the fire pit that didn’t work, given the weather in Florida I can see why this is not a priority but if it is there for the colder nites it should work. All this is followed by a front desk attendant who just likes stonewalling guest requests."

"Thought I could trust the Marriott brand. I thought wrong… this hotel is very close to the train station and on the wrong side of town. It was very hard to find someone at the front desk upon arrival, after they finally greeting me they mentioned to a very long term guest they weren’t happy to be at work. Check in was better after they let me spin a homemade wheel for bonus Bonvoy points. After check inn I was greeted by some more full time residents. I then proceed to my suite that smelled like stale cigs. The room seemed to be fairly clean but it’s hard to get passed the constant smell. Later that night I went down stairs to get a bottle water from the cooler that was about 50 degrees and could not get passed the smell of homecooked frozen dinners from the permanent guest. The next morning the breakfast was quite pleasant before being gone for the entire day. After arriving back that night I was greeted by two county sheriff cars at the entrance. I mentioned to the front desk about their presence and they said there was an incident earlier. I asked if it was safe to stay and the gentleman replied “ you should be fine”. I later checked out the next morning. Just beware this is not your average Marriott stay and I second guess my self on the brand in general. Good luck!!!!"

"First and foremost this is a three star hotel as listed but it is ran like it is a Five Star property all day all night. I have spent time in many Marriott residence, Inn, as well as other facilities that they have. This facility is centrally located in to all the major areas of South Florida. Almost everything that you need is within 15 minutes from the facility, including the beach, shopping food, dining, and entertainment. First, let me shout out to a gentleman named Grey works nights at the front desk here. How lucky this company is to have such a personable person working from 9 o’clock till six or seven in the morning. Always friendly always greeting you with a smile and asking you about your day. While talking about the Philadelphia eagles on Sunday night football he offered to put it on the big screen for me in the lobby so My Wife could watch what she wanted upstairs. A true gem employee. The rest of the staff here is absolutely awesome as well. Everyone that works here has a smile on their face and is always ready to help serve or be available. Repainting curbs and keeping the outside protected from the Florida harsh weather is constantly maintained. Within seconds of any kind of spill or emergency, staff is eager to rush to get it, cleaned up and repaired. Not one thing was out of place our entire trip for nine days. The continental breakfast every day is perfect for on the go, or sit down breakfasts. Fresh bagels, pastries, and hot meals. Served every morning. Awesome bold coffee, and just about everything you need to be satisfied. Daily changes as well Beautiful lobby area with sit down tables and counter style areas with computer areas, plugs and pop-up outlets. Easily connect to the Wi-Fi. Not one moment will you find some thing out of place they are constantly keeping this place clean and sanitized. One of the best aspects I have found about this particular hotel is how much staff they have available throughout the entire 24 hour cycle. I have been in much bigger hotels, with half of the amount of friendly faces, and being on a vacation to me that is one of the most important things about a hotel. The rooms here are extremely spacious and kept nice and modern. tThe maid services are impeccable. Always around always available throughout the day and will actually ask you if you need anything if they pass you by in the hallway. There is a nice court yard style, pool, and a beautiful lake out front. I would highly recommend staying here for vacation business, or just about any other reason. I highly recommend this hotel and wish more were like it. Enjoy your trip"

"My husband and I had a very nice stay at this Marriott. The hotel was clean, rooms were updated and spacious, and the breakfast in the morning was good for a complimentary setting. The hotel is located right off the highway and is near the Tri-rail station making it easy to get places in South Florida if you don’t have a car."

"A good hotel for a business trip, doesn’t really have a vacation vibe to it. The room was spacious, it had a kitchen, full-size fridge, microwave, sink, and dishes. Priced well, breakfast included. Staff was nice."
