Pineapple Villas on Laguna Beach

"Villa 22 could use a bit of updates, but it is clean and served the purpose of being a good room to stay. It definitely needs a new mattress. If you plan to use the pull out couch, do yourself a favor and just bring or go buy a nice inflatable mattress (your back will thank you) and sleep on it. It is like sleeping on metal braces with no pad. We invested in an inflatable bed after trying to sleep on it 2 nights. The kitchen if full equipped with most all essentials. All the appliances are full size. The hot water is good. The outdoor areas are kept clean. It is pet friendly and most rooms had pets but they were all friendly and quiet. Their owners all seemed courteous to clean up after their pets. The pool is comfortably heated! And the hot tub is very hot. No bugs or pests were seen in our unit. I love the old Florida charm of this nostalgic resort. Nothing fancy, just basic needs and best of all, no waiting on elevators full of kids and drunks going to their high rise condo rooms! It is very peaceful here. It is on the beach and easily accessible. Every employee I have spoken with has been very nice and accommodating. I can’t wait to come back again soon."

"Did not start here, just got some lunch, pick up order on a Sunday. Was fairly empty. Overall decent location with outdoor seating available. Staff was friendly. Food was fine- maybe about a 6.5 ( fried oyster basket, combo basket- oysters and shrimp) although, a bit overpriced for the quality/size. Gratuity was also included with the check, so heads up when it comes time to pay the tab."

"We stay here every year and normally love it. This year we rented the beach house which has a $300 cleaning fee. I'm not sure who they're paying to clean, but it's not being cleaned. Every bathroom had hair in the tub, sinks, and on the toilets. Main level half bath reeked of urine. Master bath jet tub hadn't had water ran in it in a long time apparently because when we turned the knob, tons of black gunk ran out with the water. The toilet seat hinges, one is yellow with urine and desperately needs changed. The knobs for the jets, one was missing. One of the access panels under the tub was just hanging. The stairwells smell like mildew. Stairs and living room blinds looked like someone had vomited on them. I dont think anyone has ever dusted. TV in the third level smaller bedroom didn't work. Any balcony door we had to fight with to get it to open and the one in the master was hanging. I tried to leave a message with the front desk and we got no response at all. They only want to talk to you if you're giving them money. We actually happened to be walking by and came across a couple who had been locked out onto their balcony, and they had to toss us their key to come and let them back in their unit because the front desk wouldn't answer!The last few days we were there, a work crew was working on the house next door and the smell of weed was everywhere. We do love the location and the fact it is pet friendly and we are okay with it being outdated, but paying such a huge cleaning fee for what looked like someone just ran in and changed sheets and towels wasn't worth it. If we stay again it will definitely be in one of the smaller villas since they seem to be better taken care of."

"The beds were slightly hard. None of the TV remotes worked. They do not have an elevator so be prepared to climb. Couldn't enjoy the pool because it was overcrowded and the pool was Tiny. It had a really good view of the ocean depending on what balcony you got. The balcony door windows were busted in one of the rooms. They had no USB outlet so bring your USB plug to charge your electronics. The balcony doors didn't shut very well you can easily push them open. They had thin blankets, and you had one pan in the kitchen. They had handicapped parking but it was not handicap friendly."

"This was awesome spot for a vacation!! Just outside of all the crowd. The apartment was nice and roomy with all the comforts of home with the added veiw. We stayed in number 23. Both balconies provided a view of the beach. The kids enjoyed the pool when we weren't at the beach. The staff was great. Sue was very sweet and helpful!! We will definitely be back!!! Honestly we didn't want to leave. The only thing I would say is the doors to the balcony in the master bedroom really need replacing. However this doesn't distract from the rest of the nicely maintained apartment."
