"I agree with the review hared by LANCE JERRY. Chen Medical, Tamarac, is denying Aetna Medicare members, some of whom are underrepresented senior citizens, the RIGHT to a REFERRAL even after a critical diagnosis and medical records were shared with the office. Even after presenting Chen Medical with the diagnosis from a specialist doctor, who urgently recommended another specialist's referral (which MUST be done by the PCP for Aetna Medicare insurance to cover the costs, there was no timely action from Chen Senior Medical Center. Given the urgency, I escalated the matter to the Center Director, Brian Jurich, who lacked integrity, speed, and compassion. He stated that I would not get a referral to a specialist within 24 hours - Chen Med only uses their CPL specialists in their network (not the insurance). Despite my plea to get the REFERRAL and that this issue was flagged with Chen Medical during a PCP visit FOUR months prior, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a REFERRAL even after sharing a valid diagnosis. Aetna Medicare Members / Chen Patients are being DENIED REFERRALS to specialists. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST taking your loved ones to Chen Medical, Tamarac, if they may require specialty doctors and care. The PCP, Dr. Valeria Jimenez, shared they do not provide 'psychiatrists' referrals. It's against Chen Med's policy, even though Aetna Medicare Insurance requires members to get care from specialists. Chen Med prioritizes getting frequent visits from elderly patients every 2-3 months to bill the insurance. I observed this for the past five months while trying to get a diagnosis and specialty care for a loved one.
