"Opened a claim in November 2022, contacted UPC on multiple occasions as we had not heard from anyone a week after our claim was open. We were finally assigned an agent. After two weeks of no progress, no response to emails or phone calls, we were finally able to get ahold of a supervisor who informed us our agent was no longer employed with UPC, we were assigned another agent. UPC assured us that this would not restart the claim process, which was a lie because it did. Starting over with the second agent, she requested documents we already sent in weeks prior. Postponed the claim because they wanted to now send an adjuster out. It’s now mid-January with no progress. Sent emails, left voicemails, called for another supervisor. Agent stated she was working on it but needed more information… Not sure how as the adjuster they sent out to physically look at the area in question wrote a report to give to UPC. Sent in three quotes from contractors as UPC requested as well. Come February, we receive a letter from UPC stating they are pulling out of the state of Florida. We call our UPC agent, no response, no reply to email, no returned phone call. On the hunt again for another supervisor who informs us our second agent is no longer with the company. It is no March, we cannot get new insurance as we have an open claim and are in-insurable until it is closed. UPC dropped us and we will no have a lapse in coverage. Thanks UPC for dropping the ball yet again, costing me more money because of your negligence."
"I filed a claim with UPC insurance back in Jan 2022. I sent and provided all the documentations required. An insurance agent called left a message. I tried to call this agent and received no return calls. Finally after calling several times, I got through customer service and was informed the agent was no longer handling this matter. Now I was given another agent, who also didn't return any call. After several months of attempted calls with no results, I decided to go with a public adjuster for help. Again all proof of damage documents provided to UPC. Communication was not established. I decided to retain an attorney on this matter. UPC is a disgraced when it comes to resolving claims. They are great at strong arm robberies. They will increase your rates by 200%. They will drop you in a heartbeat. Most of all they are the worst in handling claims. They are not professionals at what they say. To UPC GET OUT OF THE INSURANCE BUSINESS IF YOU CAN'T HELP THOSE IN NEEDS ON REPAIRING THERE DAMGAGES!!"
"Would give 0 stars if possible. Was notified that I would need to find a new policy after mine expired in April because UPC was no longer serving Florida. Then receive a letter that it was already cancelled more than 2 months early. Best part, the notification date is 2/22/23 that the effective cancellation date is 2/1/23. Love that a St. Pete based company doesn't even serve its own community."
"Been with UPC for 10 years. I just get a letter as of March 1st saying our policy was cancelled as of February 1st!! yes you read that right.. A month later and we've gone without insurance. 10 years ago our insurance was 2,100 a year, this year was 9,908!!! YUP Never a single claim and yet dropped. Where is my refund for all of the months you haven't covered me yet?? Nothing stated in our letter. Now I have to find another company. Don't ever use UPC, they will leave you hanging and apparently never pay after they take your money in the case of a claim. RUN!!!"
"HORRIBLE COMPANY!!! My house, like so many, was affected by hurricane Ian. While not as bad as others, I'm thankful we still have a home in one piece, but we have damage that needs repaired. We have a claim in, we have a contact, Paige Brooks, or at least it says that's who our contact is, who has never once returned a call or replied to an email regarding our inquiries. An out of state adjuster contacted us and said he could give them a report for our claim, which he did. Since he has submitted it, it was months before any activity on our account regarding the claim. Then we get an email that the claim has been closed with a breakdown of what they were paying us. The adjuster report was over $25,000 for repairs and UPC closed the claim for $16,000. They are trying to keep almost $10,000 for "depreciation". Now, the site also says a check was sent. Well this so called check was never received and I've been emailing and calling about it, but NO ONE will return the call or get back to me on our concerns about the claim in general and where this check they supposedly sent is at!! I pay this company like clock work every year! I never question an increase in price. They've increased my deductible with no notice, but again, I've not said anything I just want the claim fulfilled for what it should be. I've never had a claim and to find out this is how they do business is despicable! I WANT WHAT WE ARE DUE FOR THIS CLAIM!! We are calling daily at this point and still no response from anyone! Needless to say we will not keep them as our insurance company after this experience!"
