"This was the pediatrician that checked on my baby in post-partum at MCOT. My daughter was born at 35 weeks, but as healthy as can be and at a normal weight for her term. We told the staff we wanted to be discharged as soon as possible, regardless of what time pending her positive consistency with all the testing. Our midwife came in to let us know that everything was great and she would be working on getting our discharge information done to leave after the 24 labs and check up were completed. Immediately after, Desai came in, did not introduce herself, and said we were absolutely not leaving tonight before we even said anything to her. After inquiring why, she explained that they had to continue to monitor and test her for jaundice periodically to make sure she was staying consistent due to being delivered pre-term. She left a bad taste in our mouths but we decided to play it safe, despite everything looking great. After our wonderful nurse took our daughter to get the 24 hours lab work and check up completed, she came back with everything looking good and that the only thing she would be bothering us for again was to get my wife's blood pressure In a few hours. They did not need to "continue to monitor" for anything else. This doctor cost an additional 14 hours of time (and lord knows how much in additional medical expenses, hint hint) that could've been spent at home for virtually NO reason. Needless to say, we found a better pediatrician for our daughters future."
