The Bay Pines STEM Center, located at 4723 Bay Pines Terrace in St. Petersburg, Florida, is a cutting-edge science learning complex operated by St. Petersburg College. This $4.7 million facility, opened in 2017, offers research opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines. The campus features two state-of-the-art labs equipped with high-definition equipment for projecting microscopic images and graphics, catering to the needs of 24 students in the larger lab and facilitating group research projects in the smaller lab.

Students enrolled in marine or environmental-themed courses at SPC have access to a wide range of lab equipment, including microscopes, incubators, refrigerators, measuring and calibration tools, and autoclaves. The center also boasts an auditorium/multipurpose room that can accommodate up to 90 people, with the flexibility to be divided into two separate spaces. Equipped with a catering kitchen, this space is ideal for hosting events and meetings for college or community groups.

The Bay Pines STEM Center is not only a hub for SPC students, but also welcomes community and research groups interested in environmental studies. Collaborating with Pinellas County Schools, the center serves as a professional development resource for local science faculty and teachers. Additionally, the facility hosts local middle and high school science fairs and other events, fostering a culture of scientific exploration and education in the community.

Wireless sensors on the property collect data on various physiological characteristics, such as plant and water conditions during adverse weather events like hurricanes. These sensors, designed by SPC engineering technology students in collaboration with biology, environmental, marine biology, microbiology, and chemistry students, will eventually make their data available online for research purposes.
