Ayara Thai Street Cafe - St. Augustine, FL

"Overpriced. I searched for sub-$20 restaurants, and this came up based on their old menu. You'll now pay $25 before tax & tip, and that's just for an entree. I decided to give it a try anyway, since I was seated before I realized the prices were so high. I thought maybe it'd be some of the best Thai food I'd ever had. I thought wrong. The first bite I took included some kind of leaf that could not be chewed. When I reported this to the waiter he explained that he thought it might be cilantro, but he did not apologize, and did not offer me any kind of discount. If you order water, you'll be given a single small crinkly plastic bottle of water from Costco, and optionally a plastic cup. The waiter will not refill your cup unless you get his attention, and ask for a second bottle. The food is okay. Way too spicy. It's worth $5–10, absolutely positively not $37.64 after tax & tip. The waiter has not been trained for gourmet service. They need to provide knives instead of expecting people to use forks to slice food. Plastic water bottles are great for $5 meals, not $37.64."

"I am always on the hunt for a great Thai spot and happy to have found this one. Our server was welcoming and attentive. We order the pork jerky which was crispy and good. Beef Kraprow and Crispy Duck Ramen were delicious and presentation was beautiful. High heat is the way to go if you want a nice spice. Looking forward to our next visit."

"This place was just amazing. The atmosphere was so nice and calming. The food tasted fresh and absolutely delicious. I honestly fell in love with it and will be coming back when I’m here. The people who helped us out were just complete sweetheart. I will also be recommending this place to people. My husband had the drunken duck and I had the beef fried rice. Both plates as mentioned before, DELICIOUS"

"Jak was a wonderful waiter. Very patient and friendly to us. I really recommend the duck dishes, but everything else looked so good too, it was really hard to even pick the duck! I cannot emphasize the friendliness enough. If we weren't just visiting I mightve eaten here everyday! They didn't have sushi as of 12/15/23 but honestly, you don't need it."

"This is my new favorite restaurant in the world. We loved the food so much we ordered 9 different dishes, all fantastic, I don’t even know where to begin. The Thai beef salad was one of the best I ever had. The fried duck ramen was just a simply amazing dish that will drag we back across county lines in the future, I am sure. The curry puff pastries were a huge surprise and I enjoyed every bite. The pad Thai of course was wonderful. Perhaps the best part of the visit though, was that we met the head chef and owner, CJ, and her husband who were both absolutely delightful. They brought each of our dishes out and stopped to talk a little about the restaurant and the area each time. With such a cute and quaint atmosphere and their kind and hospitable personalities, I feel like we just made friends for life. Thank you sincerely for making our day….or week rather."
