"Nicholson School of Communication UCF Downtown Orlando situated outside Paramore, steps from Orlando City Soccer, Camping World Stadium and Amway Arena home of the Orlando Magic . UCF creative village will be host of Orlando International Film Festival for 2 consecutive years. This year's festival premiered "My Father Muhammad" . "Disorganized mess. Tiny "campus" is unfinished, unsafe and unappealing. Basics like security, student dining and parking have problems that are unaddressed. This is a vanity project by a prior (now disgraced) UCF president and his sidekick - a disgraced former student gov. president who had *no business* or pertinent experience building a satellite campus. A real s--- show. Taxpayers ripped off, plain and simple."
"I really liked the idea of UCF downtown, but it seems this has been a half-finished, rushed initiative. Staff on the main campus have no idea how to contact their corresponding downtown offices (ie, Career Services on the main campus doesn't know who works in the Career Services office downtown; nor how to contact them; tried twice). THere's very little information on the UCF downtown page as to what's available on this campus. Additionally, the DPAC (phillips academic center) is a 2-building structure (connected by an overhead walkway) yet there are still no labels on the building identifying which classroom numbers are in which building. Ergo, you have to check both buildings. Such a poor launch of a new campus."
"There's not enough places to sit. "Open study" is now "closed study" unless you're a communications student. Yeah, the 6 tables they have in the main entrance is great if they're not already full. But where am I supposed to study or wait for my next class if they kick you out of every room on campus? I made the mistake of trying to save money and bringing my own lunch only to be rudely confronted by one of the IT employees. If you need to quickly heat up food, don't count on it because they won't share the only microwave on campus. What exactly am I paying for if I don't have access to anything? The computer labs are nice."
"If this is truly a partnership with Valencia then why does everything say UCF. Even the news neglects to mention Valencia. Such a shame. They get the most funding (in fairness they're probably the only reason why funds were found for downtown) but yet their nickname is U Can't Finish."
