"I was just released from this hell hole where they treat patients like they’re animals (not being dramatic it was traumatizing to watch) and most (I mean like ALL but 2 or 3) of the staff only spoke Spanish (I spoke Spanish but most people there did not which caused so many issues). I went due to mental health issues and I feel like I came out with MORE issues than when I came in. I had to talk to patients and be there for them more than the own staff sadly. All they would do is give patients sleep medication and God knows what else and if you tried to ask what you were signing or what you were taking they would YELL at the patients including me. The only person who was nice to me was a young boy who helped me when I was crying (if he didn’t I really don’t know how long they would have kept me there because they consider crying as “mentally unstable” when I was just SCARED). I will say there was only TWO nurses out of so many that were actually nice to me which is completely messed up considering none of the nurses had any patience while working with people that need HELP. PLEASE don’t take your children here or anyone for a matter of fact. This place does NOT help if you are mentally unwell I will promise you that. If you are struggling out there or if you’re reading this and you’re a parent or whatever the case may be please listen to this warning and all the other bad reviews because none of us are lying. Most if not all the good reviews are from parents or caretakers of patients if you couldn’t tell. Stay safe "
"Michele Prues is simply the most incredible person I have ever encountered in my 57 trips around the Sun! She is a staff member at Larkin Hospital and specifically works with patients and their families when it is necessary to get a court order to keep their loved ones in the State of Florida for continued treatment for their own good when they are unable to make decisions for themselves despite being an adult. She is the most selfless and passionate and scrupulous individual I have been involved with when they have no dog in the fight other than their innate desire to help other people at all costs despite the effort required to achieve the end result. My wife and I can honestly say that our son would not be alive without her genuine desire to do whatever is necessary to help him when she had no direct connection with him or anything to gain by helping us, especially when he was not even remotely part of her responsibility or job description. This review is more for her than her employer Larkin hospital, but I will say that they are incredibly lucky to have such an incredible lady as a staff member, and we are indeed fortunate to have crossed paths with her because in our estimation she is the reason we even have an inkling of hope for our son’s ultimate wellbeing!"
"BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! UPDATE I was able to locate my son after not knowing where he was for 9 days. Still, the administrations from this place is a mess. They are more concerns about covering themselves. The lack of accountability and terrible heart aching traumatizing experience to say the LEAST… My son went missing from this facility while he was under a Marchman Act court order. I last saw him on Thursday Jan 18, after a visit with him that day. I tried calling the facility several times to get answers and they keep changing their story. I file a missing person report-TBD"
"Totally dreadful environment. I was recently at the ER with my son. The staff at the ER were very professional and I could see they were doing their best to meet the required standards for caring for patients. Sadly, the doctor who was overseeing my son's treatment failed to meet those standards. His dictatorial attitude and poor manners were not consistent with good patient service. I was given misleading instructions by a staff named 'DONNA' from the ER to report to LARKIN for my son to be transferred for further rehabilitation. She also informed me that all paperwork will be faxed to that location. Once I got there, the young woman who greeted me was very confused and she was doing her best to assist. She initiated a call with a man who claimed he was the supervisor. That man appeared very agitated when he came downstairs. after speaking with Donna to clarify my reason for coming to the location, I observed him coming very close to my son's ear and he was literally yelling questions at him:' DO YOU WANT TO HURT YOURSELF?, DO YOU WAN TO HURT PEOPLE?, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? I couldn't believe what I saw. This guy was yelling in my son's ear so disrespectfully. Even the young woman who attended me appeared to be very disturbed at the poor treatment. I got really upset. My husband who also witnessed the whole thing was also very upset. He snatched the discharge document from the rude man who claimed that he was the supervisor in charge. That man along with the two other women that later came on the scene have no business working in a healthcare facility. On a positive note, I must applaud the young woman who greeted us upon our arrival at the location. She did show great professionalism. She should not be working with that guy who has no regard for treating patients with dignity and respect. I will be submitting a more detailed complaint to all entities overseeing the ethical conduct of that despicable individual along with the 2 women. After I asked, one of those women told me the camera is supported by AUDIO. PLEASE DO NOT DESTROY THE EVIDENCE. MY ATTORNEY WILL BE ASKING FOR THAT."
"My dad had outpatient surgery at Larkin. The communication was terrible. No one spoke English. I got no updates during the surgery. It went longer than expected with no explanation. The only time someone talked to us was when it was over and they wanted his clothes so they could get him dressed. We barely understood the nurse as he asked for the clothes. Then they gave us the wrong day for his post-op appointment."
